Let me guess, they’re calling the system “Continuum” (aka Continuity).

Trolls who claim Apple isn’t the innovation leader in tech anymore doesn’t get what innovation means. ”Everything before you seems obsolete, and everything after you bares your mark.”

The gestalt of the Apple ecosystem is felt in every single competitors platforms. When Apple nails something, their implementation of features are almost always found implemented very similarly in Android or Windows products. Implementation is what sets Apple apart and makes them innovative. Ideas are a dime a dozen, implementation is where the magic happens.

Thats not to say that Google and Microsoft don’t also implement new features in innovative ways that Apple later copies. There’s plenty of examples. But if you look at platforms/ecosystems on the whole, Apple STILL to this day influences the industry the most. From the smallest details, to wide ranging ecosystem features like continuity. Apple marches to the beat of their own drum, while their competitors still try to march in sync with Apple. You can’t innovate without a willingness to make risky/bold bets. M1 is the latest example of Apple still having the cojones to make bold and risky bets. Traditional general purpose x86 CPUs now seem obsolete in comparison to Apples approach with Apple Silicon, and is similarly influencing every other chip maker In the industry.

Integration across Mac/iOS devices is why I'll probably never abandon iPhone/MacOS. It's really hard to believe Android hasn't gone down this road sooner. I have an Android for work, and the lack of integration with Windows (also for work) makes the experience pretty rough sometimes... with iCloud, Files, Messages on both platforms, I have access to EVERYTHING no matter what device I'm on.
In many ways Google has reached further - Office suite, Android connectivity, vastly superior "home kit" automation, and now they are just wanting to reframe what they have in a manner that end-users would associate with being Apple-like. Sooner or later, Apple is going to have to move from its "lock down - they'll like what we give them because we tell them to like it" attitude to a more practical and logical approach to compete.

Competition is great. On the features that it copies from Apple, I hope it iterates on them and makes them better than Apple so Apple has to respond. Otherwise features would stagnate without competition and iteration.

If Android didn't do widgets and homescreen customization, it never would have came to Apple. Same with NFC. Even now Apple is slow to open up NFC like Android has it but although it took them longer Apple Pay/Wallet is miles better than Android Wallet/Pay... virtually same from tech side, but Apple used its market clout to get it accepted and used by more card issuers. OTOH you can do more with NFC on Android as its not as locked down. I will hand it to Samsung specifically for doing mag-stripe payments via tap. But at least in my country you can't do mag-stripe anymore so its not really an advantage. US might be one of the last that uses it. Chromecast > Airplay 1 so Apple added Chromecast features in Airplay 2.

what's your first choice then??
I never think of AirDrop to send files because I had too many bad experiences with it. I always use messaging, email or WETransfer.

Handoff is simply not on my radar because the few times I think of using it, the app icon doesn’t appear on the target device.

AirPlay I do use, because I hate BT even more. But generally I prefer to use native apps on the receiving device instead of Airplay.

But HuTouch already has this multi device integration between windows and Android devices, like resume of Google meet calls, websites, YouTube and apps in general on any device. It also has file share. Google is late to the game - very late.
