At least SOMEONE is delivering on Macrumors’ forum demands for TouchID, absence of PWM, and a less expensive premium device.

I think LeIco, I mean LeEco, really nailed it. 😎👍

In 2023 smartphones are so ubiquitous and vanilla, no one is remotely interested in what you use, let alone beguiled.
Agreed. It's not like when the iPhone first came out and you could only get it on AT&T and you'd have someone ask you if that's the iPhone but now you can go to Walmart and buy one. It's not a status symbol like it once was

I'm not sure it's worth calling this thing convincing based on a glamour shot heavily photoshopped that may or may not (at all) look like the actual product - for $135, it's safe to assume a lot of corners were cut.

Android manufacturers have had smaller hole punches than Apple for YEARS. Why would this brand want to go and make one bigger, intentionally?

In all fairness, the fact you can get a working smartphone for that price is amazing.

This is actually standard practice for asian manufacturers. Not really any surprise. There are thousands of knockoffs of premium products in many industries.... As soon as you get it in your hand however it would be obvious it's nowhere near an iPhone. It would function, feel and perform like any other $135 smartphone..... Poorly in comparison...

So when is Apple going to shut this Chinese company down for IP, trademark, copyright and 'anything else Apple can come up with' infringement.
This is in China. It is a Chinese Company. The Chinese Government actively promotes the theft of intellectual property to be used by Chinese companies. It is the "cost" of doing business in China. If Apple did fight this, they'd risk being tossed out of China. Although very unlikely, I hope Apple can find a way to move all of its operations and sales out of China so it no longer has to rely on China for any of its manufacturing or revenues. The Chinese people are vastly wonderful. The Chinese Government is evil.

I do wonder how much of Apple's cost of making an iPhone is related to everything that goes into iOS development and the entire Apple ecosystem. This phone does not get you iOS. Nothing but an iPhone does.

That has more RAM (and a larger battery) than the original!
Plenty of room since most of the tech like cameras Face ID Taptic Engines etc on real Iphones is not there and probably the cheapest crap ram you can buy. Good luck with that.

Apple’s profit margins on hardware hovers between 25 and 35% so their cost would be 65 to 75% with labor packaging and shipping if it goes to a warehouse outside of china or a store.

I can already see the posts here how much Apple is ripping their customers off by overpricing their phones, when a "similar" device can be sold for so much less.
Let's be honest...they have a point.
Outside of America, iPhones are now outrageously overpriced, 100% positioned as a status symbol. You might not agree, but that doesn't make that opinion wrong.

No it’s not a Chinese company. LeEco…it’s quite clearly French. ;)

And they managed to make the bezels super thin unlike Apple.
Except for the bottom one. That chin... woof!

The general sentiment that iPhones are overpriced my be a valid point.
Trying to validate this opinion by comparing an Apple iPhone with a functionally deficient ripoff violating Apple's IP is very much invalid however.
