For my 2012 June retina.

They replaced and fixed it many times and it was a huge pain so they replaced it anyways they gave me the new base model.

Happy and kind of not happy.

I bought it on ebay for 1450 and it was not mint. So now I have a mint brand new laptop and such that's a year and a half older with 2 years left on apple care. And better battery. But no dedicated graphics ...

I'm sure they still have some Feb 2013 rMBPs around. You probably could have asked for one of those without an issue.

Didn't want to come off as rude 😱 lol

No I think it's great they replaced it for you. Was just pointing out that if graphics are really a big issue for you there might have been another option. They probably would jump at the chance to ditch some extra new old stock.

So you lost the GeForce GT 650M in the process? I'm not sure how I'd feel about that... guess it depends how you use the laptop. If I was gaming on it, I wouldn't be happy with the swap 😛

I gamed very lightly but not much honestly and seeing as I am getting a new console I'm not too upset..

I guess on the bright side I got a 2000k laptop for 1450 with 2 years applecare... Lol

So sell it and buy one spec'd the way you want it. A new late 2013 will command top dollar. A couple/few hundred bux later, you have what you want.

they replaced a 2012 model with a 2013 model?

i never knew they did that i thought they only gave the same model

i heard of kids joking about trying to break their iPods to get the newer model for free but i never took that seriously

I already opened it , and now looking at it, it does have its bonuses such as a brighter screen as well which is nice.

I'll keep it. I'm lucky enough to have a new one anyways

With iPods they don't give you newer models. Macbook is a different story:apple:

Some people...

Apple does their best to fix a faulty machine you got from ebay - maybe the seller did something before dumping it on you - and you're not happy because you're losing dGPU. You're not happy for losing something you don't need and most would not even notice, but just because it's on a spec sheet, you see the upgrade as a downgrade.

Seriously...😕

I suppose you have a point there.

Apple will never give you a downgrade, if they're unable to get you what you want they usually give you a slightly better one.

i woulda been pissed AF if they did that to me lol. the games you would play on mac is perfect for the gtx 650m. the iris pro is 6% slower i believe.

sell your late 2013 for 2k exactly save someone the tax and buy a nice feb 2013 spec one. on the refurb store they have ne actually with 520ssd or whatever it is and 16 gigs ram for like 1899. its really no brainer dude ...

Hahah😀

I'm thinking about doing that

It's less than a day old and open could it sell for that? But ebay fees too

Since a lot people seem to think this a downgrade... if you are unsatisfied and Apple replaced it, you can return it for store credit and pay the difference to a better one.

Yup--you could potentially get an early 2013 refurb with a bigger SSD, 16GB RAM, and the 650M for only $100-$200 more if Apple lets you swap it for credit...

I don't think I can do that though? Never got a real receipt?

If you had complained about the lack of dGPU, they likely would have bumped you up to the config that has it.

Yeah, when my 13" 2009 MBP went to ****, they upgraded me from a would have been 2011 13" MBP to a 15" MBP because of a few missing features that were only available in the 15" at the time (FireWire, separate audio in/out ports).

On the phone with them now, thanks for the advice
