Ok after the drive is copied and I install it is there anything I need to tell the mac to look for? I saw some threads where people did not have the mac looking for the new drive.

Shouldn't be a problem ... I've never had it not find the drive after it's been cloned.

System Preferences > Startup Disk > Select your OS X drive/partition and click reboot

Can also be selected when booting from the install disc (Utilities from Menu Bar > Startup disk)
