Trade it in for a labrador ;)

For some reason, I've never been a cat-person; our neighborhood cats still terrorize me. There's a Siamese who sits in front of our front door all the time and whenever I open the door and want to get out (and with my luck, it's always me), it makes a loud and angry hissing-like noise and the tail gets really fluffy. Pathetically, I end up using the garage door.

Nonetheless, that is a very "cute" kitten, and congratulations! Best of luck.

In case anyone is interested, here's a new pic!

dsc00001364715.jpg

he looks exactly like a cat i have wandering around at work here, i call her Onyx, she has finally gotten used to me and runs up and lets me pet her, i have no idea where she came from, but she has a flea collar at least, hopefully i can catch her and bring her home...

Your kitten sounds like my cat. We were given my cat Smokey (or as I like to call him, Bill) when he was one year old (His previous owners had to move and couldn't keep him). Bill was really shy. He dug a hole through the bathroom floor the first day we got him. He was so scared. He's gotten better since then, but he's still shy and slinks around the house when unfamiliar people are here. He just needed time to get to know the house, the people, and the cats. He's so gentle. He's has never bitten anyone or anything. We have a little shih tzu now, besides having 3 cats, and the only time Bill will even bat his paw at the puppy is when she's chasing him. haha, now as for the other, it's basically World War III. My house is interesting to say the least.

Just give your kitten time to get to know you and it's new house. Everything will be fine.

Many, many more pictures available if anyone would like to see more (taken with my new Canon SD790 :D Please PM with camera-related comments).

More on Jambi:

For anyone wondering how he turned out as far as personality goes, he's extremely playful, hyper at times, and extremely well behaved. He's never bitten or intentionally scratched anyone for any reason, even when we play rough. I think he will always be slightly timid and shy to some degree, but he's come a long way. Nowadays, he's always nearby (underneath my desk chair as we speak).

The 6th image above shows Jambi in his most common position - laying around, yawning, stretching... basically mimicking myself. :p

Hope you all enjoy the new pics. :)

Beautiful cat. :D

My Mom always had black cats when I was growing up.

One in particular was not fixed, and came home, after days "at the front", all cut up.

Damn nice cat.
