Why do people keep on thinking that Apple doesn't want to promote iPad because it'll eat into MBP sales?

They amount of profit they make per MBP and iPad is probably equivalent! And then Apple takes a cut on the app costs. How much money does Microsoft give Apple for every copy of MS Office sold for OS X?? NONE.

If anything, Apple would want everyone to use app based devices, because then they can double dip.

Apple looks at design like it's making an instrument. It's not just about making something that works. It's about making something that you can use fluidly and without doubt. When that breaks down, it's frustrating.

They've made a wonderful tablet. Tablets aren't for everything and never will be. They're fun though, so I think they're going to be around for a while.

Apple doesn't really make that much from app sales or music, videos, etc.

30% of a billion* dollars is quite alot.

* - I don't know exact figures of what the app store has produced, but you get the idea.

minus transaction fees + hosting costs + review team salaries + etc.
Might not be so much after all.

Sorry. I disagree.

Apple makes 30% of all the sales in the App store. Okay, take Angry Birds for example, thats one app that has sold millions of copies.

For example, review team salaries don't cost more when apps perform better.

So lets say Apple made $X alone from Angry Birds. Are you suggesting that had Angry Birds sold zero copies, that Apple would actually be in the hole $X?

OP, I found some of your problems when I had my iPad as well. As some have mentioned, the grip problem can be solved easily with a good case (some aren't even that expensive. The chinese ones are just as good as the expensive ones for all simple purposes.)

And the glare; I can't offer any advice one. My anti-glare cover still didn't do enough. Sorry :(

I actually sold my iPad last week, because I felt stupid having an iPod touch and an iPad that did exactly the same thing. I think you're in the same boat as me; it really has no use when we could have a laptop or ipod touch.

I'd say just sell it on ebay, or trade it for something you might want on craigslist.

Lilo, since I'm on the fence about the iPad, I'm holding off on buying accessories like a case. I understand I might be shooting myself in the foot but I've always been a naked Apple user...

There are many companies that sell transparent plastic covers that you put on the back of the iPad; much like a screen protector goes on the front. Gelaskins sells ones that have printed designs. Not only will this leave you a naked user, but it will give you a tackier surface to grip.
