Lol... I was in the apple store yesterday and the guy that was helping me ran his keys over his.. Like he was scratching a lottery ticket... Not one scratch... All to prove to me that I don't need screen protectors... I still bought one :D....

If you don't mind the feeling of a plastic screen protector, go for it. I have seen a scratch on a front of an iPhone 4 personally. I'd also worry about the oleophobic coating wearing off.

Why worry about the oleophobic coating? If you cover it up with a screen protector, what difference does that make for you?

I don't want to use one because the retina display is just so beautiful, but a scratch would drive me crazy. I'm going to put an SGP screen protector on tonight.

I would always put one on. When I first got the I4 i went along with everyone saying how great and scratchproof the screen was. Then I didn't realize there was some sand/dirt in one of my pockets. Once I took my phone out I probably had 5 scatches in the screen. never again will I go naked. the protectors have come along way and some of them it is really hard to even thell there is something on the phone.

Gonna be honest with you. I have a white 4S and the screen protectors are immensely difficult to fit perfectly on them. you can't tell where you're even applying it. This resulted in me messing up both back ones and 1/2 front ones I bought :p.

Though I'm tempted to take off the front one, I don't think I'll need it. Just be careful and don't put it in a bag full of keys or something lol.

The key to putting them on is Sticky Tape (cell tape or whatever it's called in countries outside of Oz). Don't use your fingernails to lift it. Sticky Tape on the edges to lift it if you misalign it and also ST if you need to get a speck of dust off the screen.

The other thing I recommend is getting somebody with small fingers to do it in a very well lit area that's free of dust and wind.

I put one on the back so I don't have to worry when I toss it or slide it around on the table. As for the front, no.

I gotcha, smoking monkey. In the US we call it Scotch tape (it's the most prominent brand...it's made by Scotch). :D

I always use a [Power Support] anti-glare screen protector because I don't like the glossy screen. Also the screen feels a lot smoother to the touch when using the phone with an anti-glare screen protector.

I usually have an InvisibleShield on the back and a bumper, but this time I picked up the Element Vapor and their carbon fibre back.

On my iPhone 4 I took my screen protector off and the next day I got a scratch, so now I will not go without one! I just got the optishieldz full body protector for my iPhone 4S. I just noticed they are having a sale right now on their iPhone 4S Screen Protectors for 20% off all week!

No screen protector seems like a good idea now but just wait til you notice a hairline scratch, you'll be kicking yourself in the butt over and over again.

I just bought a full kit from best skin ever..will i put it on my screen idk because i have the life proof case coming in. but I will put it on the back and the sides..it does nothing to my user experience and i know that one mess up and i will regret it. I want my phone in the best condition possible. and for 8.99 its a no brainer..the back imo is more subject to scratches the screen a lot less. but again, take the chance?

only takes 1 scratch for you to wish you had put one on.

yep...Ive got scratches on the back of my ip4. I was always pretty careful, but all it takes is one time of accidentally putting your phone in your pocket with keys...

Android screens tougher?

I wonder if some of the ANDROID screens are simply tougher? I just went to a 4s from Android and am loving it. Before the 4s I had a Droid Charge and then before that Nexus one. I own a roofing company and although I don't do the manual roofing labor (I own the company), I am on the job sites all the time, and roofing is a dirty job. And, with the two android phones I never installed a screen protector and never had a scratch. Was I lucky, or were these screens tougher than the 4s screen?
