Got my mini. Some things I noticed (added SSD, OWC kit, added RAM)

2012 Base model, here. Just wanted to share some stuff that other people may be interested in.

First, the OWC kit is officially works perfectly (says so on their site now, and I have personally installed an OCZ drive with it).

Next, the pre-installed 500GB 5400rpm drive was surprisingly thin... according to the label on it, it's 7mm. One of my portable Seagate 1.5TB drives (after cracking open the enclosure) was noticeably thicker than normal... I wonder if a thicker drive could be installed alongside the thinner one. Alas, I installed a standard sized SSD, so I wasn't going to text it.

Lastly, as I think I saw someone else post here, my Intel HD4000 VRAM jumped up to 756MB (from 512MB) after installing my 8GB of RAM. Anyone know if it jumps to 1GB with 16GB of RAM?

N00b question here why does the Intel HD4000 VRAM increase when you install a RAM upgrade?

it is a vampire and sucks ram from the ram sticks hence the v in vram.

a little halloween humor, but basically that is the reason. So if you had a 1gb plus a 2gb stick it would drop lower. last years minis would be at 256 388 or 512 depending on how much ram you put in.

The integrated graphics card uses shared memory. Basically it uses a portion of the machine's RAM as it's video memory. Increasing the computer's memory also increases the maximum amount of memory the video card will use.
