I type 110 WPM and have been trying out the 12" Macbook for the past couple weeks. I could never get along with it in the store (mistakes galore), but after a few days of use I put up near 100 WPM numbers with minimal mistakes. You do adjust -- my finger touch has gotten lighter, and as a programmer my quick typing bursts actually do feel quicker due to the less amount of movement/pressure needed.

That said, I just don't find it particularly enjoyable. Going back to my 13" rMBP is just a flat-out more satisfying experience.
I think if you spent a month with the new MacBook Pro you would would learn to love it. I'm the type who has always hated lots of key travel as I am a light typer and pressing down so hard leads to many many mistakes.

I'll be purchasing the new MBPtb once it's available in the Apple Store. The only two items I will miss is the SD Card Slot and USB2-3 capability without adapter. It sucks Apple didn't incorporate these since flash drives are still widely used.

You're falling victim to the thinness circle jerk.

??? How is cautioning Apple to not fall prey to a cult of thinness a circle-jerk?

Or do you mean anti-thinness circle jerk? Because thinness = sacrificing features and power. That's not a circle jerk, that's physics.

You can read (and watch) my impressions here (longest review I've ever written in 15 years, but the video is a reasonable length LOL): http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/13-inch-Apple-MacBook-Pro-Late-2016.htm

It's the Lisa! In the wild!

Myself (and many others I know) take you as pretty much the only trustworthy, reliable, and technically competent reviewer out there. Keep it up!

When the 15" MacBook Pro arrives. could you try the charging block on the Dell XPS and Razer (and whatever other "high level grunt" USB-C machines you have)? I know it's technically underwatted... but it's high enough that I think there's a good chance it might be able to at least slow-charge/charge when off unless there's a software block (84iish vs 120ish I think).

After reading many negative comments here about the new keyboard and being one of those older people who don't like change, I made a trip to the Apple store today to check out the new 13 inch MacBook Pro. I was surprised to find that typing was easy on the new keyboard and I don't think I'll have any problem with it. I was also afraid that maybe I shouldn't have ordered space gray, but it looks great and I'm so glad I'm getting that color. After playing with it today I'm even more excited about getting the 15 inch model. I'm currently using the 2012 15 in rMBP and it's been a great computer with no significant problems over the past 4 years - "it just works". :)

I've been curious of the new rMB keyboard for a while, I've tried it a few times and came away cautious but optimistic that I'd grow used to it, the new MBP keyboard is even better than that one was. The keyboard of course, as the primary input surface/device is a very controversial piece, luckily I'm open to change and adapting, same as I did when I first made the switch to OS X from a primarily Windows ecosystem. Whenever I recommend a Mac to a colleague or a friend or family or w/e, I give the 'spend two weeks doing nothing but use your Mac, the keyboard, the software, the settings, w/e, don't try and use it like your old machine, forget everything and try to deduce the solution with your 'new' tool', those people never go back, I've been that person as well, I'm happy to learn again, to adapt to the new, will it be easy? maybe, hard? equally maybe.

I spent some time in an Apple Store with the new MBP and I do find the keyboard to be a nice improvement over the one in the 12" Macbook, a much more affirmative tactility to the keypresses. I could very well grow to love it more than my current MBP keyboard.
