Why do people have such and issue with this?

Its a great experience to be part of something. I'd love to be first in line and get praised by the Apple staff. :D

Why can't people just enjoy stuff?

That's funny, I preordered mine on ATT at 6am ET and am getting my phone tomorrow... as are thousands of others.

Looks exactly like mine! still in "Kentucky" since 10:08PM.

I HATE that UPS "end of day". means it will get to me by 7pm.

Yea mine comes anywhere from 4-8pm but sometimes I will see a 10am delivery, so maybe that "next day air" will bump up it's route priority but i doubt it :p

I don't have an issue with it. I just feel bad seeing how uncomfortable it looks to have to camp outside like that. I can see where it might be fun indoors in the company of friendly people and with good amenities available.

But that person in the photo looks very cold and uncomfortable. It seems a lot to go through when you consider a few months from now, maybe even a few weeks, the phone will be something you just walk in and get with very little fuss.

Protip: If you have a business address (or know someone who does), order it to there. In general, Fedex and UPS do business deliveries first.

I did it to one of my parents' business locations. They get their UPS deliveries before 11 AM usually. My home deliveries from UPS come anywhere from 2-5 PM and that's normal days. Tomorrow might have been later.

Thanks for the tip!! Will definitely do that next time.

Would be funny if he is waiting in line for the 6 Plus and they don't have any. Talk about a waste of time!

I think they will have some in the stores. Apple doesn't sell everything by pre-order. They need some incentive for customers to come to their stores.

I just don't understand why people get in a physical line with all of the preorder options. I DO NOT GET IT.

For me, last year my upgrade date fell within the week of the announcement and then the release.

And I am impatient. However, that was my first time EVER waiting for a phone in a line, I got there at 3 AM and was #12.

This time, my wife's upgrade occurred Sept 1, so I was able to participate in the online pre-order deal.

I will say, if you have not done the line thing before, I had a VERY pleasant experience at mine and would do it again if I had to.

No, it would not. It would suck. It happened to a few people around me last year who went for a Gold iphone 5s and came home with Space Gray.

In a few hours he'll have company and it will be party time.

I don't even like standing in line at the grocery store, you would not find me lining up a day in advance for anything.

Yeah I often wonder this. Diapers?

I understood the standing in line back during the 3G, 3Gs, but I *thought* with the 4 that you could then preorder.

I bought the original iPhone the day Apple announced it was dropping the prices. This made me want to stand in line for the 3G-- and I did. From about 4pm until past midnight when I finally was able to purchase. It was a long slog, hotter than hell here in the South and it was all outdoors (outdoor mall).

When in line, the folks around me would hold your place while you went to the bathroom-- and you would do the same for them. In fact, at the tail end of the night for the 3G, I went for a quick bathroom run at the nearby Barnes and Nobles and when I came out the entire line was gone. They had been led into the Apple store and they were not allowing any new people. The guard at the door would not let me in and then I said, but I had a chair, and I have been here since this afternoon-- he then said, oh did you have the blue chair and are you lovetheduns? The folks I had been standing in line told them that I had run to the bathroom and should be let in-- and I was.

I found standing in line those days "fun", free wifi, water and snacks provided by the Apple store, restaurants came by to take orders for food, good convos, etc.

But once the days of the pre-order came into play I just set my alarm and ordered. Wouldn't stand in line now for nothing.

Cash transaction
The excitement
Paid line place holder
Too sell the spot and get some money

Not to mention all of the pre-orders who have NOT received their tracking info yet. Just because you pre-order does not mean you get one on launch day. It should but it doesn't.

I've gone at 3am before and it was kind of fun to be around others who were as excited about getting the new phone as I was. That being said, anything more than 12 hours early seems a little much to me.

Maybe he's selling that second spot. He gets to make some money, AND he gets 2nd in line.

Well then he better sell that spot before #2 (and 3,4,5...) gets there! Otherwise he will just have to sell his spot and go home.

Empty 2L bottle of coke or if you're really willing a catheter and a few bags! :D

What about the girls?

I did this in 2007 for the original iphone with my 7th grade daughter. I'd sign up again for that. It was a good time.

Don't call this guy a loser. God Bless him for being committed.
