Now wait until I do my MacMini. That's going to be SOB!

That is my next project. Seeing how uber-fast the system was, I sold my "PC" at work which was running 15k SAS drives in RAID0 under Windows 7. I've ordered a Mini which should be arriving next week and am planning to pimp it with 4GB RAM and an OCZ Apex 120GB SSD. The Apex is nowhere close to the Intel X25-M but it is much faster than your regular HD.

I like how you think! The video was very helpful by the way.

the apex has stuttering issues, and is as expensive as the vertex, i would just go with the vertex.

apex uses jmicron

Very nice, but $600 nice, I don't think so.

Yes you can load up faster and all, but once it's in the OS, everything is pretty much snappy. 500gb vs 160gb too, mechanical drives win. Less than $100 500gb vs $600 160gb drive.... hmmm let me think.

$1 = 5120MB HDD vs $1 = 260MB SSD
19:1 ratio

Needs to be at least 6 times less expensive. 3:1 would be satisfactory.

That's why God created 7200rpm drives;) Faster performance, higher volume and CHEAPER price.

Give it a few months. Hell, last year >200GB SSD was nearly unheard of. Prices are dropping weekly as well as the reliability increasing.
