I thought this was extremely odd. I buy all sorts of equipment for my studio through the mail and have never been charged tax, but it seemed that I couldn't escape it when I was buying my computer.

I had originally placed an order with Mac Mall, and they don't charge tax. I decided to go in-store rather than wait a couple weeks, worth it to me.
