I don't think that's true. I just don't think its been done correctly yet....

The smartwatch (as I envision it anyways - as a useful device for me) IS an accessory/paired with a smartphone. Not a standalone device.

No camera. No phone capabilities. Those things are redundant and unnecessary in a watch. I'm looking for a device that gives me gentle notifications, tracks various health metrics, ties in with my phone to give me a secure two-step verified payment method, etc. I want NFC in the iWatch - not the iPhone. I want to be able to swipe my wrist at a payment terminal and scan my fingerprint on my phone.

Actually, that is pretty much what I want, a watch that can be used as a standalone device that can sync with my phone. It would be pretty nice if I wanted to go running, play a sport, or go swimming and leave my phone at home and just wear a watch. The snartwatch I envision would be able to sync to a Bluetooth headset so I could go running and still listen to my music/podcast without having my phone bouncing around in pocket, be able to go swimming and still be able to send text and receive calls without worrying about my phone getting scratched, wet, or lost while at the beach, and be able to make payments without have to pull anything out if my pockets.

But when I do have my phone with me to be able to see and dismiss my notification, alarms, appointments, ect. from my phone.

While I don't yet think any of the current smartwatches are there yet, and I have no confidence in Samsung to produce good software for the watch, they may be the only ones willing to give the features I want.

If only they would stop making these things exclusive to Galaxy phones, I really have no interest in a galaxy other than a Note, but even then I don't want to be forced to carry that device, apple, HTC, Motorola, and Sony all make superior handsets IMO and would I would want to use one with those devices.
