GPS Not Locking

Since i have upgraded from 2.2.1 to 3.0 the GPS has stopped working properly. At times i get a very quick lock but thats 10 percent of the times other wise it just picks the location of the cell towers.
The halo around the blue dot seems to vibrate for a short time and then simply stops.
I downgraded to 2.2.1 and i have the same issue. I have tried almost all the solutions. turn on/off 3g, edge, wifi, but nothing is right.
The strange part is that even by downgrading its not locking properly anymore.

I have the 3GS and the 3G

3G with OS 3.0 signal is worse than with 2.2.1 but at least I get GPS signal
3GS with OS 3.0 signal is no where to be found 9 times out of 10....IT SUCKS

The GPS on my iPhone 3GS seems to be awesome. Even works indoors

The GPS on my iPhone 3G has been crap since 3.0

side by side comparison failed.

within the last week my GPS has started to fail. I compared my 3GS right next to a 3G both with 3.0 software. my 3GS bounces several miles around my actual location in google maps.... and has a large halo around the blue dot. the 3G locks in relatively quickly with no halo. I've tried restoring/resetting/turning off 3G network. nothing seems to be getting it any closer. the apple care people know nothing, I can't imagine the at&t people have a clue either.

I have the original 3G, and it seems that the GPS is not working very well AT ALL with the 3.0 software.

The best accuracy I can get is anywhere from 500 feet to 2 miles away! The blue dot always has some size of halo around it, indicating it is not locked in, and when driving, with the phone in perfect site of a cloudless sky, the blue dot lags behind where you actually are by a 1/4 mile or so. So when driving, you'll pass a stop sign, and then 15 seconds later, the blue dot (with a halo around it), will catch up to the stop sign.

It's been a while since i've used GPS, but I don't think it was like this on the previous software versions - from what I can recall, the blue dot would actually follow along with you on the highway fairly smoothly while driving. And the halo around the blue dot, indicating it is not locked, would not always be there like it is now.

Figured i'd ask around before getting a replacement from the tools at the Apple store.

i use mines a lot just to test accuracy when im in diff places. at my house 7/10 it gets me right on the dot. the other 3 times its either a few houses down. or at most a block away. so my gps on my 3gs works great.
