I was replacing my SS Graphite for the SSTi for the same reason. I think Apple did a wrong decision with the coatings this year.

A little confused, Although I will be picking up the TiSB tomorrow I have done some research and it appears that PVD and DLC is just a process that applies the coating, Is the coating then made of the same material ? Is the same protective material being applied using a different Process DLC and PVD ?

PVD is both a coating alone and the process used for applying DLC- wich stands for Diamond Like Coating. So both finishes uses PVD for the process- but the Ti has a PVD-applied DLC-coating. That is how it’s done, and always have been.

2 weeks in and I have managed to scratch my SBTi, ugh it’s right in my field of vision when I drive so I see it every time I look at it. Not so bad when walking around and just looking down.

I’m annoyed at myself but I thought the DLC would protect it better.

How did you do that? Have you tried to drop a couple of dots with a black watersafe pen? And then wiped over with a soft cloth of baby wipes to remove the leftover?

I have no clue how I did it……. Just noticed it now, haven’t tried anything. I’ll probably leave it, I don’t want to make it worse

I just picked up the SBTi, I will be returning my graphite tomorrow, I am not completely sold on it though, looks aluminum to me, good thing I have until January to return it as returns have been extended, leaning towards the natural titanium.

It sounds like you wanted DLC, the natural Ti does not have that.

This is why I steer clear of the coated apple watches. It’s still possible to scratch them, but it’s impossible to polish/repair them. The natural titanium and steel can at least be polished back to new (or close to new).

That’s shocking! So sorry…

I have the SBTi coming this week and this makes me a little nervous now…

Upgrading from. SBSS S4 which has had a few knocks, but is in absolutely perf3ct condition; could be wiped and placed in a box and one would be hard pressed to say it’s been used for 2.5 years!

Such a shame they don’t have a non-Hermes version of the SSSB with DLC in S7.

While DLC isn't perfect, I've found it to be very durable in the year+ I've had my S6 SBTi.

A couple of times what looked like a scuff was actually material from what I'd bumped against that'd been grabbed by the surface texture. Try a pink rubber pencil eraser on that and see if it helps.
