Hey everyone,

was browsing Best Buy’s website today and you can get a stainless steel s5 for only 449 today.
seriously amazing price considering it has cellular as well and you get the stainless case.
figured I’d give y’all the heads up.

Amazon has the series 6 for $50 dollars more for at least the 44mm. Since I’m an employee 10% off as well which is neat.

I’m in the UK and have just picked up a new 44mm Series 5 Space Black Stainless Steel cellular with black Sport Band for £349 (RRP listed as £749 I think) with two year warranty.

Was torn between that and a Series 6 Aluminium non-cellular but I’ve admired the Space Black for a long time so I think I’ll be happy with finally getting one compared to losing out on the newer feature set of the Series 6.

Should be a nice upgrade from my ageing Series 3.
That is an even better price than I got it for.

Exactly the same way I felt. I kept thinking that rationally it would be better to buy an S6 for the new chip and features. However, I have always wanted a Stainless Steel model and this deal seemed like the perfect opportunity.
The watch arrived yesterday. It is really nice. I am happy with my decision.

Currys in the UK currently selling the S5 stainless steel 44mm Space Black with black sports band for £329, I already bought from John Lewis for £349 but got them to refund the £20 difference today. Very happy and a nice upgrade from my Series 2 Nike+ version.

Amazing deal. I picked up a second hand S5 SSS for £400 on eBay a couple months ago. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...! 🙈

After waiting 8 days for "One Day Shipping" I still haven't received the 44mm Stainless Series 5 I ordered. Fortunately it wasn't a gift!

Staples has taken $30 off my purchase price as a "sorry" making this watch $529 CAD.
Hopefully it will arrive.

Was gonna ask, are these the esim models? I’m on o2 and really want to use it so I can leave my iPhone at home.

if so, I’m getting one tomorrow lol.

$519 no?

I got $25 back by applying a $25 off coupon after the fact, off my $499 price of the 40 mm size.

But yeah, I hear a lot of people are having delivery issues. One guy on redflagdeals said he eventually got a cancellation due to some shipping issue, but then received the Watch AND a full refund on the same day. So until he calls back, he has a free Watch. :p

That listing is so confusing lol. Says it’s stainless steel but says has Ion-X Glass

I'm an exhausted father.

Yes. $520.

Math is hard o_O

Not sure which to choose, aluminium or stainless steel? The Nike ones only come in Aluminium I think, which is probably what I’ll go for but any advice before purchase would be great, in case I’m making a mistake...

Internals are identical to the cellular aluminum models.

The biggest differences are that the stainless steel models come with cellular whether you want it or not, and they have a front crystal made of sapphire. The biggest draw for me was actually the sapphire, since it's the second hardest rock out there. The sapphire is synthetic of course, and perhaps not the hardest of sapphires, but it's still sapphire nonetheless and way more scratch resistant than the glass that is in the aluminum models.

thanks dude.

i kinda like the Nike idea, but doesn’t seem too different
I’d buy a cover for it probably and gonna go for the 40mm, the 44 may be too big for my skinny wrists lol

What is your wrist circumference? One soft rule of thumb out there is that over 176 mm go 44 mm, and under 165 mm go 40 mm. I went with 40 mm for my 172 mm wrists (and 40 mm for my wife's 172 mm wrists), and we both really like the fit. It looks more like classic dress watches rather than those giant oversized watches. However, I may be a bit biased, because in general I don't like oversized watches.

BTW, the Nikes come with a couple of extra Watch faces that the rest of us can't get.

Thanks.

i think the 40mm is the one to go for me, however it looks like if I buy it externally from my phone contract provider (o2) you hv to pay an add-on fee. Just researching how much but a bit surprised tbh

I called Staples and they asked if I wanted a refund. In the back of my head I was thinking of what you had said but declined the refund.

10 minutes later the watch was left on my porch. No signature or even a knock on the door. UPS Express Delivery sticker was dated two days before. Staples has terrible shipping arrangements and in this Covid environment it could cause them a lot of problems.

Anyway, the Stainless Steel looks like a real watch. My wife has the SE and thinks the SS was the better way to go.
It's a fashion/jewellery item so I get what she's saying. But there is no way I would pay over a thousand dollars for this. Even $500 is top end for my tastes. My $1000 watches will be passed on to my grand kids while this thing will be not rusting in a landfill.

But it's pretty cool to have one.

When I had the Series 0 (series 1?) I got the SS variant but realized that the SS was not worth the money even though it looked and felt good. I had scratches on my glass and such but when the S4 came out, I just went with the regular one and saved like $300 bucks; I can then use the money on a new watch when this one breaks.

In Canada if I bought the SE Cellular with the nice band (Braided Solo Loop) it would be $529

I paid $520 for the same processor, Stainless Steel and more features.

Weird

Seems like an absolute win, the SS is such a nice look. I also plan to keep this for 4 years so maybe I should’ve gone the SS route.

They’re now down to £319 at Currys - get another Never Knowingly Undersold claim in!

I’ve gone for the silver SS although I did consider space black.

FYI, my two pence on the alu vs ss is that the watch is really a very tactile experience. Having owned multiple models of both variants, Ss certainly delivers on the expected apple quality. Alu is a quality product but the ss models really knock it to the curb and take on a new level.
