Asterix was wonderful in the cartoons and the comics (read them in French).

Same goes for Lucky Luke, and Tintin (in French)

Of course I'd say that one of my lasting favourite Cartoon Characters is Dr. Snuggles.

I used to watch 'La Linea' every Saturday as a kid (no cartoon network back then 😱 ). Great Italian minimalist animated cartoon from the 70s

Animated: Bugs Bunny, Charlie Brown and the Pink Panther. can't argue with the classics

Comic Book: Has to be Calvin and Hobbes. I mean, what other character is on so many bumper stickers?

A couple of idea not yet put forth.

THUNDAR: THE BARBARIAN!

Dungeons & Dragons

Okay, so they were terrible shows, but the characters were really cool. 😀

I have to say that I have a newfound respect for Tintin since by trip to Brussels. They really dig him (for obvious reasons), and you certainly get to love him after spending an afternoon in the comic book museum.

Go Team Venture!

YESSSS! I'm just bummed that Sunday didn't bring a new episode 🙁

The first cartoon in which I remember characters actually dying.

Which is also the first cartoon in which I remember painfully obvious racial stereotypes. I'm afraid I'm an anime fan myself, so it's going to be a close contest between Wolfwood of Trigun fame or Jerry. Also Duck Tales for the win.

I have the latter image framed on my wall.

These are my three choices.

I have basically that same picture of the Tintin cartoon. I think it's a law that you have to get pictures of as many of the cartoons on the sides of buildings as possible if you're in Brussels 😀

Only appeared in one cartoon, but Pete Puma in "Rabbit's Kin" has one of the most oft-quoted lines - "Oh, three or four":

I've gotta go with Mickey Mouse. My personal favorite and the flagship of Disney...

Aaaand.... no picture.🙁
I had a pic up of the Little Mermaid after my Disney comment (what, I was joking... seriously), but the source must have taken it down because it's not showing up anymore. I'd put up another one, but can't seem to find a good one where she's actually clothed. 😱 What is wrong with these people, she's a cartoon!

whow, I used to watch them, too. Had an illustrated book as well... I think they were living in some safe place, but there was this polluted outside world. Maybe that was just one of the illustrations... it has been a while 🙂

Edit: dynamicv, we have the same age... that would explain it

OMG, I remember this cartoon, was one of the few things I remember that was allowed on morning TV before the end of apartheid!
