Thanks again. Don't mean to miscommunicate myself here - I get that DFU and "off" are two different things. Thanks for the clarification just in case, though.

I'm evidently having issues with the actual instructions from GP. Could be a user-error involving my timing w/ the buttons. I'll try it again tonight and see where I get. Again, thanks for the help.

Problems entering into DFU are always end-user errors lol. I've never thought the timing was that hard to hit. Most the time I don't even count it out just judge it by 'feel' I guess but it's seems most have problems with it until the've done it a few times.

One of the reason that Greenpoison (and Possibly Limera1n) is not out for the mac yet, is because the Exploit is USB driver dependent, and for some reason it is NOT working with the most recent Mac Drivers, using windows over a Mac with a Emulation software will carry the same issue, Ramdisk is not really loading, so the program thinks that it finish when it's really not.

I'va read some people having success with Parallel desktop, but based on the conversation on the IRC, it shouldn't.
I had to "run as administrator" limera1n, but I had success on the first try with it on Vista via Parallels. Not sure if this is related to how vmware handles usb vs parallels, or what, but just some input.

Alright - Based on the explainations here, I'm nearly certain that I am properly placing the iPhone into DFU mode.

I connect the iPhone, power it off, follow the prompts in GP (after clicking "run as admin" to open it), the screen turns black, 'Jailbreak' button in GP becomes available, I click it (the countdown for DFU seems to stop early for me).

The PC chimes several times signaling that a device is being disconnected/reconnected. The screen on the iPhone turns completely white (no code), then black again. The 'Connect iTunes' logo appears. GP says 'jailbreak complete'. I check the iPhone - no loader/Cydia.

I've done this 5 different times on 3 different USB ports. No clue what the issue is. I'm about to give up and try Limera1n...

Nobody else getting this issue out there? Should I restore the iPhone properly? To do this, will I have to follow the shift/restore process in iTunes again to preserve my (already preserved) baseband?

I know some of you have got to be sick of reading this saga by now, but thanks again for the assistance!

Alright - there's definitely a problem here. I just gave up on GreenPois0n and opted to try LimeRa1n. I have the exact same issue with LR, now - according to the LR software the jailbreak is completed.

There is no load package or Cydia icon when the "jailbreak" is complete. I have tried soft reseting the device after this as well - nothing. I also did not see the limerain icon during the process as the tutorials seem to indicate I should.

I'm pretty close to updating / restoring through iTunes/TinyUmbrella again (to save baseband) and trying after that... Let me know if there are any other thoughts on this. Thanks...

Mind you I did mine in Parallels 6, but it took me 5 times to get it to work. I had to use GP as I couldn't get LR to work. What it did for me was go to the white screen (the countdown is slow btw) then black then GP said it was done but the iPhone then went into verbose mode and it was in that for 2 minutes before the JB was finally finished. It's definitely not as polished as a Pwnage JB that's for sure.

Thanks. I'll try it one or two more times that way, but then I'm going for a full restore, delete and re-DL GP or LR, and starting all over...

if you used greenpois0n, did you see the long stage of scrolling text on your iphone like you were in a terminal? If you didn't get this far, try again. I didn't get to this stage my first time, tried again, then it worked

Scrolling code means nothing. I've gotten the Loader to appear and 9 times out of 10 not appear even after seeing this. This is one buggy jailbreak.
