Grey reply box in messaging

Hi folks

I know this has probably done already but can't find a permanent fix elsewhere on the forum.

Sometimes the box which you would normally use to reply to a text goes grey with '0.00' at the end of the box. When I enter my reply, I can't see it. I have tried various things such as turning phone off and on, closing messaging and reopening, ticking on/off the 'show subject field' in message setting and ''character count on/off ' some of which work for a while but the grey box always comes back eventually without warning. Not much use when you want to reply quickly to a text.

Has anyone found a permanent fix for this?

I don't have a fix but I've had this problem too. So far I've just closed messages and reopened it. It looks like it has something to do with the voice texts u can send over iMessage that I was always hitting in accident on ios8. Maybe there's a way to turn it off until it's fixed?
