i haven't got the phone back, but they said they replaced the screen

So far it seems better - even when heated for a while, i don't see it. I'll keep my eye on it.

they also did a good job replacing the screen.

Phone is still under warranty, i already had it in for repair once and they returned it and said "its fine".

It's gotten worse and its especially bad if phone is hot. when its cold and you run a test it might or might not show.

I sent AASP a mail with photos/videos and everything, and they're saying "they did everything according to procedure and i could bring it in again"
my warranty runs out in a week.

phone screen is obviously not fine.
That maybe looks like something pushing against the back of the display.

That was my thought too, just weird that display units do it that aren't dealing with pressure from different angles in ones pocket, in the wild, etc.

May be, but its a design flaw since it's pretty consistent when it happens.
And the new display doesn't show it (yet), so if it was something pushing on the display, they shaved a few micrometers off when they replaced the display assembly

If it was something pushing against the screen, then it would be a white spot. This is because of the technology of the LCD screen and how it requires a backlight to function.

Yeah, there should be a white “spot”. These pressure points often have an accompanying dark spot. But perhaps the pressure is not directly under the visible portion of the LCD but the accompanying dark spot was. If the pressure was near the bezel, it might have been possible. Of course, this is all admittedly unlikely. That it varied with temperature is why I suggested the possibility.

I have the same problem, in the same place, but mine is browny and bigger. I get used to it. My Ipad PRO 10.5 has a bright spot and is bent. My next device will not be from Apple anymore. It's a shame !

I have iPhone 7 and I have a smudge in the top left of the screen and as the phone was under warranty I claim the replacement of this in AASC and they denied it by saying that there is no problem detected in their system. So they marked that is there is no issue with the phone so they will not do repair or replacement. In my iPhone that smudge looks bolder when it becomes hot, like during watching movies and capturing videos, etc, but when the phone is kept IDLE so the phone cools down and that smudge is harder to see. I think that this type of issue is happening with all the iPhone users, but the case is that most of them don't notice it, because it looks bolder when we open the control bar.

It's not as prominent on my new screen, but screen itself is **** (so was the previous one).
My gf has an iPhone 7 without any screen guards in her bag with keys and stuff, dropped it a couple of times on concrete, and it has barely any scratches.
i keep mine in a clean pocket and after half a year or so it's already visibly scratched, bumped and stuff.
My iPhone 6 also had a more "hard" screen.
i don't know what they've changed, but it's just not scratch resistant as it used to be.
