Guys, RTFA. You probably don't even have to scroll to read it on the Macrumors summary...it's on the 3rd paragraph.

"Griffin notes that the stand is compatible with all versions of the Apple Watch and provides an "easy viewing angle" when charging. The pedestal will also accommodate both a vertical and horizontal orientation"

Also confirmed on the Griffin Press release...

"WatchStand securely displays and charges Apple Watch vertically or horizontally for the perfect view."

Point taken. It's still a terrible design though.

Why can't Apple put wireless charging in the phone and the watch.

No cables, no connectors, no docks. Just sit them on a charging mat and they will charge overnight.

Need a quick-charge? Then you can use the cable instead.

It really seems like there is a much more simple, effective and 'elegant' solution to all of this and the technology is readily available now.

gross! who designs these POS products for them? is first to market the only thing that counts for these clowns? let me display my iphone and watch for me to see!

Is it so hard for companies like Griffin to hire competent designers? What a ****ing eyesore.

I'm definitely not a fan of this design either..

I have the Composure Dock preordered for my Apple Watch. The price might be a bit high for some, but I love it.

Also, could present a problem for people who use the leather loop, milanese loop or link bands...

Yeah, this thing is just far too large, and for no real reason.

My nightstand space is limited, and anything that goes on there gets a lot of consideration first. This thing looks like it is as big as a small lamp. That's just crazy. Plus, it practically screams "hey, look at my watch!" which is very tacky.

The Composure dock someone earlier mentioned looks great, and very reasonably priced. It also won't work with the link bracelet, because that doesn't split at the center and lay flat - it will stay a circle, albeit a larger one. Too bad. I would have preordered it right now if it weren't for that.

A good solution would be something like a curved aluminum stand that matches the iMac stand aesthetic, and allows the watch to be easily slipped onto it. It is a shame Apple didn't make one. They certainly could have, but I guess they don't typically have much success with accessories.

Ugh would be better if the battery just lasted longer and you didn't need a million chargers but being what the situation is. That's nice.

It's actually a pretty clever design, if you actually look at it. At the bottom, there is a lip so you can lay your phone there. If you are technologically savvy at all, you'll be able to use your phone as your alarm clock. So, when you are going to bed, take off your watch, stick it on the charger, take off your phone, put it on the stand. *mind blown* all my portable devices on one stand.

The real missed opportunity and baffling design choice is that once on the dock, your watch is sideways and so it can't act as a clock on your nightstand. Wtf. Just needed an arm that extended right or left slightly from the top.

Exactly what occurred to me when I first saw it. I'm surprised no-one else has mentioned it tbh. Terrible design for this reason alone.

no one else mentioned it because they read the article.

I know they say that but I don't see them showing it in any of the promo pics or video so till then, I'm going to assume that the watch is placed sideways

This really is a terrible design - far too tall (will knock over easily) and no use at all for link bracelets if you favour vertical orientation (clasps on link bracelets expand rather than undo the strap).

So much hate in this thread before the product ever launched.

I just got mine and it's perfect (for me).

- No, it does not knock over easily. The base is very heavy
- No, you don't have to place your watch sideways.
- No it's not too tall.
- Why do you want it to be a clock on your night stand? You know the screen doesn't stay on, right? Don't you already have an iPhone or an old school alarm clock next to you already?

I don't want to have to take my watch off and re-attached the band to place it in a stand (like every promo photo of almost every other dock out there.)

The Griffin stand lets me take the watch off and place it on top without having to fuss with the band. Done and done.

Looks great next to my Twelve South iPhone 6 stand.

I've got the Sport band, so YMMV with a link bracelet.
