  • Is your thumb touching the glossy part on the bottom of the remote? If 'Yes,' the remote is upside down. Flip to correct problem.
  • Is your thumb touching the trackpad? If 'Yes,' you are holding the remote correctly. No action is needed.
Can't say I've had too much of a problem with the remote.

If it is number two then you may have already started rewinding, fast forwarding etc... Has been very frustrating using in darkened room.

Looks like something else I've seen....

Few things I don't like about the siri remote:

1. So small/slim that I keep having to look for it even though it's sitting right next to me when I'm in bed
2. When you pick it up, without looking at it, you can't tell which side is top/bottom

The case would have been a great benefit if it had a physical design to change #2 above.

1. never had that problem myself
2. I have the wrist band so by touch I know which way is correct

This whole case scene is ridiculous. Everything has a case now. Can't wait if Apple ever does make a car. A speck candyshell car case.

I think most of the people complaining about cases don't have kids. Also, you might have something with that car case idea. For those of us that live in the Rust Belt, anything that actually works at keeping a $20K+ investment from rusting out in 10 years is worth it. :p

The bottom is smooth, the top is not. Pretty easy to tell which way is up. Siri button is indented and on the left. Long volume rocker on the right. You know if it's reversed. Don't see an issue, at least for myself.

Don't like cases. Everything has a case on it these days. It's crazy.

And the trackpad has a "notch" in the top of it.

Use this code on Griffin's site through 12/31/15 an you get a free lightning cable with purchase of 19.99 or more. "FREECABLE"

While this doesn't look the best I am looking for it to help me orient the cable in the dark.

The "cheap ones on eBay" cover a lot more of the touchpad than the Griffin and the material comes too close to the buttons -- the Griffin covering in the new design leaves a better amount of space as not to interfere with pressing the buttons. Initially, the original design may have appeared nicer, but there would still be the issue of picking it up the wrong way and, as nice as it looks, it also looks like it would easily slip off the remote during use. The chunkier new design might not be as pretty, but it's going to stay put and something I like about the new design is it appears to be considerably thicker.

An x-acto knife and a little time is all you need to make these eBay ones cover less of the trackpad

pick it up by putting your thumb in the middle, where the buttons are - if the long button (volume control) is on the left, you've got it upside down.
