Ewwww it's like that old wooden side paneling on station wagons or pt cruisers yuck!

The last time I saw something that looked like that was this:

I'll stick with the Speck brand clear plastic cover that covers ALL of my 17" MBP.

My only concern would be whether the bamboo would be affected by changes in humidity. Otherwise, it looks nice - better than a silicone cover or plastic shell.

It's been said many times, there are no undisclosed paid posts on this site. The only difference is people seem to get offended when they don't personally find the product interesting. People didn't complain about FIFA 2012 coming to Mac or the Disney Toys integrating with iPad, because apparently they found those posts personally interesting.

You where happy enough to comment about how you'd love Shadow of the Beast in an upcoming Amiga Emulator for iOS, when that news story could also be seen as much as an advertisement as this one.

Yeah uh "Arn"(If that is your real name), I dont know who the heck you think you are...but you shouldn't try to sound authoritative until you've got some more posts under your belt. Thanks

:p Cheers Mate.

???

Ohh yeah!

Let's cover the hard resistant aluminum case with some wood!

Bring the cheese!

The ole bamboo

I've had one of these on my white 13" MacBook for a few years now. Looks rather nice and gotten a lot of compliments.

Got mine from iamhuman.com out of Seattle though.

Doesn't work for station wagons, doesn't work for Macbooks (imo)

I guess you have never seen a classic Woody, or what a well kept one is worth. While I would prefer a 55 Nomad, a real Woody is quite beautiful as well.

Without commenting on the looks, I just don't see the point or purpose of it. Its like, 'Oh since we can't replace the lid, let's just slap something on it instead. We'll say it protects the lid from scratching and stuff and some mug will buy it.'

'Brilliant! What shall we slap on it?'

'Howabout this piece of disused flooring laminate?'

People like to complain here right? That's one of the major attractions to many of the posters.

Personally I think the bamboo covers look really sharp ... at least from the photo!

Not going to buy one online but if I lived around the shop that these were made I would definitely check them out.

nice sarcasm. :D Actually, I was bored and looked it up and coincidentally, he has about 10x the posts you have. Just a funny fact.

To the point: Advertisement would mean that there is a kickback. I doubt that. I am one of the ones who want to know about new stuff and that is what the 2nd page or Forums page are for. I downloaded the golf game and told a friend about it and I am happy it was posted. I don't have a MacBook, so I don't really care about this one but someone might. If you don't like the article by just looking at the topic, why don't you move on? It's like with a newspaper - no one will make you read the whole thing but you might want to read some articles. You won't tell the publisher to leave out the rest either.

So, basically, you shill for nothing and you're clueless as to why that's not appealing to some folks. Got it, MacAds.

I love bamboo, but I just don't see the point of it. This seems to protect everything but the vulnerable edges.

Wow. Just wow...

FYI, "Arn" is Arnold Kim, the owner of MacRumors. And yes, he has MANY POSTS and was THE MOST APPLICABLE PERSON to answer the previous poster's question. So, uh...yes, I was practicing (and obviously failing) in the art of sarcasm.

Congratulations, Macintosh2010! You're the millionth user to join MacRumors so you win the grand prize: a beautiful bamboo unibody MacBook plate by Grove!

;)

Huh, I really like this idea. They look pretty slick, and it'd be a good way to cover up that Apple logo for those who are so inclined (perhaps this will be popular among businesses). Certainly better than a sticker.

As much as I'd like one, though, they don't currently offer an "icon" that I'd want to buy.
