If this goes anywhere, it goes on the iOS Blog, but honestly, this doesn't even seem like something worth posting about at all on MacRumors. Why the heck is it on the Front Page?

This article is screaming "take free shots at a Google product!" There are a lot of apps that have issues, but they don't get their own article here.

Pretty much.

I'm having trouble syncing my iPhone 6 with iTunes. It sits on "Waiting for changes to be applied" for 10 minutes then quits the sync, without copying anything over. Googling the problem reveals many threads on both here and Apple's discussion forums, apparently it's a widespread issue. I don't see any front page story for it though. I wonder why.

crashes here too on iphone 6 with 8.1

was hoping this update would include a notification widget for quick temp changes. nope.

Why on earth is this front page news? Most updates nowadays are expected to have more bugs, are slower and are more bloated than the last version. And I don't even talk about Facebook, Youtube and Outbank.

v4.4.0 crashes here with 6 and iOS 8.1, 1st gen Nest....for those with it working , what version is your thermostat and what firmware version is running on it. Would those without crashes be running the new 4.3 firmware?

Do you think it would be too much to ask for Apple to at least make sure it starts up before approving the update? Or do they just check for initial releases?

I'm using an iPhone 5, iOS 8.1. My Nest is the UK version, model 'Display-2.8' running 4.2.5 with Heatlink model 'Amber-1.4', firmware 1.1rc2.

The app. and thermostat are still working fine.

This is expected. You don't sell out to Google because you care about the quality of your product.

Now that Nest is owned by Google, was this really a surprise?:cool::rolleyes::p

Oh brother! Go back and look at Nest threads before they were acquired by Google. We praised the product, even hoped Apple might buy them. Then Google buys them. The product doesn't change at all. But now it's garbage.

Meanwhile, go back and look at Beats threads before they were acquired by Apple. We bashed Beats to no end even as rumors started piling up that Apple might be buying Beats. Then Apple does buy them. The product doesn't change. But now it's becoming some of the best headphones available.

What does that say about us?

Didn't take long for you to forget all of the software problems Apple has had lately.

Correct. We are quick to overlook or forget when Apple rolls out a release that breaks the core functionality of our phones but we'll find fault with stuff like this that really has no consequence and is easily rolled back to a prior software version to address the problem for anyone who desperately needs to use this particular app right now.

Again, what does that say about us?

One really does wonder if it is a matter of Google not prioritizing out of spite or stupidity. They've had plenty of time to test this thing.
