A clueless take on this. Nest was crap the whole time- their smoke detectors had to be pulled off the market and their reviews are pretty bad. And unlike Apple, their software bugs don't get fixed quickly. As for Beats, people are still saying they're crap, because they are. You are the only one here who changes based on what Apple says.

They pulled them off the market because that was the responsible thing to do. I suppose they could have just offered a band aid "bumper" type of solution. :)

 Wow! Must be parallel universe.

You know, anyone can easily use advanced search on this site to revisit past threads and see what "we" thought of Nest (and Beats) prior to their acquisitions. For instance, see the general sentiment of this thread: https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/2...s-next-quest-is-to-revolutionize-thermostats/ and this one: https://www.macrumors.com/2012/05/25/apple-stores-to-sell-nest-thermostat/

But you believe what you want.

Apple rolled back to 4.3.1

I deleted the app from my phone, then went to the App Store, and downloaded it again and noticed that the version there is 4.3.1, not 4.4.

So one does not need to rely on connecting to iTunes to roll back :)

I don't have any issue (iPhone 5S)... I hope it's going on this way.
I'm unhappy for those experiencing the crash of the app... :(

Nest crashes immediately on iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPad Air, all running 8.1. Thank goodness, I was able to bring temp up remotely in cabin before upgrading app so it'll be warm when we get up there this evening.

Dropcam has been down for hours as well.

Get your 5h!t together Nest/Dropcam!

Mine works fine, however my actual nest has not updated to the latest firmware. Is that what is causing the problem?

They are rolling out the 4.3 firmware for the Nest thermostat over the next week so they had to of known that most people didn't have the update yet on their thermostat. This is probably just some bug with the app itself like we have seen with other apps that crash when launched.

You mean I have to get up now to turn on the heat?!?!?!? UGH, the agony. :p

Hopefully the fix comes quickly. People need to calm down with the Nest/Google trash, every company makes software mistakes and has to patch. **** happens, it's not a big deal.

FWIW, mine is working fine on an IPhone 5.

It's laughable, all the predictable lemmings who have don't own a Nest, who feel the need to bash it because it's affiliated with a big company that's not "cool" to like.

The Nest thermostat is an extremely polished piece of technology that does something relatively simple, and is the future of home automation. I don't know why it's perceived as evil because they've been gobbled up by big business. Those people are simply uninformed and lack the real-world experience with this fine product.

There's probably also a growing number of users (including my wife and me) who are ecstatic with their Apple iPhone 6/6+'s, but that's, of course, not "news."

Nest

I just want to add that last week I had a problem where I was responsible for breaking my wire-mounting plate of my Nest Thermostat. Nest support was AWESOME! They went way beyond what I expected.

Such a promising product, so close, but never quite got it. I have three and they seem to be more trouble then they are worth... think I may replace them all at this point.

Nest App version 4.4.0 working with first gen thermostat at version 4.2.5.
