Yeah, but this is what i expected to happen right when they announced having to activate within the store. Thats why i stood in line for a total of 3 hours, and an extra hour in AT&T getting everything set on release. Everyone was saying how stupid it was to wait on release instead of going like a week or 2 after and this is why.

Maybe if Apple wouldn't be pricks and sent stock to ATT's 1,800 stores there wouldn't be line issues!

Good point if the AT&T stores were well stocked there wouldnt be any long lines at the Apple stores, i just picked up my iphone tonight at the AT&T store i waited 2 weeks through the DF order process and there were 3 people picking up iphones along with me, you'd think eventually AT&T would actually get stock of the iphones just like with the first generation.

I walked into the Washington Square Apple store on Saturday morning at 10. No line and had plenty of iPhones left. It sounds like it just depends on the location.

ya this a just a big joke for working people. How the hell are we supposed to early to get a stupid phone :/ i am at the point where i do not even want it anymore....

I stood in line for 2 hours Sunday morning. I got to the store at 8 and was about 60 in line, it opened at 9 (by that time they had done the legwork on which phone you wanted, if you had everything you needed to get the new one, etc). I got to the front of the line around 10:15 and was out the door by 10:25. The process went very smooth for me. There was one family that took about an hour to activate and get out the door. They were there when I got to the door at 9:15 (they had let the first part of the line into the store so they could queue up in the air conditioning) and they just left when I was getting helped. I figure they had sold maybe 50 phones per hour - 8 people at about 1 phone every 10 minutes, plus or minus the random problems.

The girl helping me had asked how long I was in line, I told her 2 hours or so, but given that I waited in line 9 hours last year for the first iPhone, this was nothing.

I waited in line for about 30 minutes today with my sister. We forgot to remove the FAN from the account prior to going to the apple store so that added a few minutes while I called AT&T CS to get it removed. other than that it was avery smooth process.

Stopped by the Emeryville, California (Bay Street) Apple Store this morning at about 8:20 a.m. and had 12 people in front of me. Received the coveted white ticket for a 3G 16GB iPhone (White) and in about ten minutes, I was in the store, five minutes later I was in my car headed home.
