Just saw this reply to another commenter. You are criticizing someone for an opinion and then offering your own ("they should include it in the box") as if your opinion is somehow more valid than the other commenter's opinion.
Suddenly getting more for your buck is wrong, right?

It’s not. Smartphones and tablets are exempted when their battery meets the requirements of the Ecodesign Regulation.
Unless something has changed in the past few weeks tablets and laptops are not exempt. Only products with an Ip68 rating is exempt. IIRC ipads and macbooks are not IP68.

Again, this entire discussion is pointless.
The European common charger directive also states that phones should be sold without chargers.
Apple and the European Union are literally on the same side when it comes to this one issue.
There’s no more argument to be had, at the end of the day, if Apple didn’t start removing the chargers themselves, the European union would have forced them to.
“For once the European Union is in agreement with Apple. From tomorrow, any smartphone sold in Europe will no longer have a charger in the box. An “ecological” novelty invented by Apple four years ago and which suits the brands well.”

At this point if you want Apple to bring back the charger in the box… They literally cannot. Just like they can’t bring back lightning, as much as they might want to.

See Making Batteries Removable and Replaceable: a closer look at the new EU Guidelines - Right to Repair Europe: “for portable batteries covered by the Ecodesign regulation for smartphones and tablets, the latter will prevail over the Batteries Regulation […].”

That makes the whole Batteries Regulation inapplicable for smartphones and tables. The minimum IP rating required by the Ecodesign Regulation is IP44.

Yea it looks like the lawyers prevailed on that one. Thanks for clearing that up.

The M4 iPad Pro is only IP42, by the way, but the next iPad models released (presumably later this year) will supposedly have to be IP44 or better.

In a nutshell, for those who were still in doubt:

“Controversial design” LOL!
Actually, ALL the Cons are a stretch. But, I mean, the point was to drive clicks/links to their site, right? They’ve produced something that people will copy and paste around the world, doing their advertising job for them! It’s the way the internet works, I’m just glad my job doesn’t require… that.

And, coming from Bulgaria, they can thank the EU for no charger being in the box. Why would anyone need a charger in the box, it’s USB-C right? ;)

Cons for almost every "news" outlet make me scratch my head:

Controversial Design - it's subjective so not really a con.
Telephoto - is the lens good? If it is then great, but just because it wasn’t the upgrade you wanted doesn't make it a con.
iOS 26 - that's a software review, this is hardware.
Charger - so not only did they want a charger but the NEW one...bruh it's been years, get over it.

Heck, from 16 series I still see reviews listing no headphone jack as a con. People are wild these days.
Along those lines, I’ve got some more cons…

Not Android compatible.
Was not shown to weaken Kryptonians.
Was not as bulletproof as we expected.
Controversial color.
Is not a delicious cheesecake with a rich, creamy filling with a smooth, velvety texture, balanced by a slightly tangy flavor from cream cheese.

Disagree. Some of the cons they mentioned were already known without them having to go on record. Performance was not improved beyond the gains of last year (vapour chamber for what?), the design is for a fact controversial. Both due to the selection of less premium materials, the looks, and also the softness of the chassis (not for a debate).

The criticism is valid. Apple is selling you a premium product that isn't premium in anyway. There is no innovation, some software tweaks, downgrade of materials, and a design that isn't really good looking. The pros need to stop growing in dimensions and weight. Apple needs to make them the envy of the smartphone market just like the MacBook pros. I love apple and my entire ecosystem is apple but this year's pro aren't an upgrade in anyway, sorry.
It was ugly when rumored and still ugly now. Doesn't matter if we get used to the design it's still the ugliest iPhone ever made.

Despite the cons listed the 17 Pro will still be a significant upgrade from my 14 Plus. I'm probably going to be on the fence between the 17 and the 17 Pro until the day I buy either of them, but do any of the cons make 17 Pro a "bad" phone? I think we're looking at the same thing as last year and the year before that. If you already had a 14 Pro the 15 Pro wasn't a huge upgrade. If you had the 15 Pro the 16 Pro wasn't a huge upgrade. Surprise surprise, if you have the 16 Pro the 17 Pro isn't going to be a huge upgrade.

If I hadn’t got the air this year, I would’ve for sure kept the 16 Pro Max and not got 17..although I hate how heavy it was.
Yeah I sold a 16 max and got the pro in January.
No point keeping a phone your not happy with.

Again your personal opinion. They came up with a new charger specifically for this series, they should include it in the box, or at the very least make it available globally.
I could see how some would be bothered by this, but myself personally I have so many chargers and cables at home that it kind of annoys me getting new ones with devices now. For example I unboxed my wife's iPhone Air this weekend and I didn't even unwrap the cable... just left it right in the box and put it away.

I'm always surprised how reviewers never pick up on the Quality Control issues Apple has with the different display manufacturers. You'd think that a site focused on reviewing the phone would acknowledge that. Maybe they need to find reviewers that are more attentive to detail and can notice issues like that so Apple becomes aware that it's an issue.
Not to mention every Macbook Pro display comes with scratches or dents in the screen. Even the service parts.
