Not me, I already have the game pre-ordered through amazon.

With the amount of content that PD has included, all the different game modes, AND the inclusion of NASCAR i expect GT to last me a VERY long time.

I have no qualms with waiting a few more weeks for its release...

Wasn't really surprised about this delay, had a feeling it would happen. I don't mind waiting a few weeks or month for the game.

Forza 3 went backwards in fun and features....and you wonder why it came out so quickly? ;-)
I'm curious, what features are missing that were in Forza 2? Oh and LOL!! Only in a thread about GT5 could someone say a game is "so quickly" coming out, when it was 2.5 years after the previous installment. HAHA!!

Sorry, "quickly" was just a poor reference to GT5's slow release. Still 2.5 years now is short for a release it seems. Shoot I waited 8 or so for Halo 1 :p

Have you tried Forza 3 online? It blows. Can't just jump into any random game with custom rules, more laps or someone else hosting UNLESS they are on your friends list. Tuning while in lobby has also been lost.

Things that were missed, or team lazy about but still added:
Drag racing without having to do anything but push the gas? Timing lights mean NOTHING....
ALL cars can be made 4wd? WTF? 2wd cars really CAN NOT stack up against their 4wd counter parts in game, despite their car performance points system. "Stock Nascar" in their oval stock matchmaking lobby allows upgraded cars.

Still no qualifying system to speak of in Forza 3. Half of the race weekend is about qualifying, yet once again a racing sim has skipped it. Palm to forehead, game placed on half.com.

Hmm, I didn't notice any of that. Forza has never really been an online game for me, so that stuff didn't matter. Drag racing, in general, is boring to me, so that stuff doesn't matter either. NASCAR? Yep, boring as well. And while I agree that qualifying is important to real-life racing, I'm not really concerned with it in my video games. I mean, really, how many races have you ever done in Forza (or any racing game, really) where the AI put up any decent competition? I can't think of hardly any. My fast laps in the races were usually a second or two faster than the AI, so qualifying laps, authentic as they might be, would be pointless. So, where you saw features missing, I saw better visuals, better physics, more cars, more tracks, better custom livery editor, etc. I found it to be a very fun and improved game.

Also, I don't get the "8 years" line about Halo. The game was announced in 1999, shipped in 2001 for Xbox, and later in 2003 for PC and Mac. Am I missing something?

Should we be surprised at all over this? At the rate things are going, Duke Nukem Forever will be released before GT5 will.

I didnt read the whole thread, but this is a collection of knowledge i've picked up.

• Everyone is pissed, and rightfully so
• The delay could be 1 of 2 things, or both.
1: Sony wanted to include the new firmware on the disc to slow down piracy, and this pushes it into the next production cycle.
2: Yamauichi said that during certain times in the game, like during weather changes or crazy wrecks, the frame rate drops a little less than 60fps and he doesnt like that at all. He might need a few more days to fix it, which once again pushes it into the next production cycle
• SCEA didnt say much, but SCEE said it will be out by christmas

As far as Forza, it doesnt have half the stuff GT5 will. Iirc (i havent spent much time in Forza 3 since my DFGT wont work on my 360), Forza doesnt have snow, night racing, near as many cars, 1080p native... You get a lot more Forza games, but none of them really have as much going for them as one copy of GT.

I like your way of quoting a big block of text ;-)

Ok that makes sense then. If I can play a racing game online, I will then rarely touch the single player. So we ARE on different pages there.

On the 8yrs halo waiting time. I waited from the moment I saw it before it was really announced, just some leaked pics, when it was Mac OS 9 only, with a non-linear story and one could navigate the entire Halo world.

The very earliest development prototype of Halo was built on Myth, and the very first Myth game wasn't released until 1997. Also, OS9 didn't come out until late in 1999. From the earliest time anyone really knew about "Halo" to its release was only, at most, 4 years, so I think you might have your dates mixed up. ;)

Oh, and just to keep on-topic... So, did you guys hear that GT5 was delayed? I wonder why? Everything seems fine to me. :D

The Signature pack is my brother in laws Christmas present, he's a GT nut. So this is not good!
I'm getting COD Black Ops Prestige pack!!! Hey I want the car alright? haha, I just hope my Bro in law can play with his on the telly? :(

I saw a ad some where that there advertising a 3D TV bundle with PS3 GT5 2 movies etc anyway they say Guaranteed by Dec 5th anyway don't know if it was made before the delay.

its because nobody cares for nascar ;)
Sadly, quite a few people enjoy watching those things make a bunch of left turns. Personally, I don't get it. I find it mind-numbingly boring.
i wonder if there will be v8 supercars..
I would hope, given the 1,000 cars, they would include some V8 Supercars to use. Even with half as many cars, Forza 3 included a bunch of them. That is a very big, and very popular, race series, so I would hope that GT will include some to use.

The only people i know who "watch" Nascar just turn it on and fall asleep on their couch all afternoon. It makes me wonder if anyone actually enjoys it or if they just want an excuse to take a long nap :p

I'll try a few Nascar races in GT5, but i dont plan on spending half as much time with that as i would anything else. I'll probably race go-karts more than nascar.

I've heard everything from black friday to mid-december for the release. I really hope its not that far off. I have nothing else to play this fall.

This is a bit of a silly thing to wonder about. The v8 supercars are what gt5 is all about. Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, and I'm sure plenty others will definitely be in there (don't quote me on all these brands since Some of those might be exclusive to other games).

You are thinking of supercars that use V8 engines. We were talking about the "V8 Supercars" race series down under. Roughly speaking, it is sort of like NASCAR for Australians, except the cars look much more closely related to their street version, and they race on full race courses, not ovals. It is a very exciting series....

I remember watching that on the telly. It's like our British touring car race but with extra oommpphhh!! Very close nutty racing. Way better then Nascar. But Nascar has rules and regulations to make it work.

Oooooohhhh, I was totally wrong on that one. Gotcha now. As for that, I have no idea in GT5.

I wish the States cared about V8 Supercars (or some comparable racing) half as much as we care about Nascar.

I know, right? BTCC, F1, WRC, V8 SC, DTM, etc. So many amazing race series around the world, and our shining contribution is a bunch of "Stock Cars" going in circles in giant packs of 20+ cars.

I'm not an F1 fan. I like cars that are more.... 'real' feeling. I like to go to the drag races and i can watch the Super Street, Pro Street, and Stock classes all day long bus when they bring out the Top Fuel and Funny Cars i just cant stay interested. Theres just something about taking a car meant for the street and pushing it to its limits. I was out at Maple Grove (just south of Reading, PA) last Friday and a guy was racing an Escort zx2!

Theres a big difference between racing a 2010 Falcon V8 Supercar and an F1 car of any sort, imo. I'd still be ecstatic if F1 got any kind of respectable coverage over here though.

The US has gone it's own way with racing but times are slowly changing. You have the American F1 race and Ken Bloc in WRC. But as to weather it's on your telly or not is something else. I would say it's partly up to Berny Eccelston to promote F1 too.
