Im using XFX rx480 8gb but it performs as same as HD5870 base on several tests with testing programs like heaven. Updating every single time for MaxOS is risky to me.

Any thought about getting 1060 for full performance instead of limited rx480?

I'm looking at either the 1060 or 1070, will probably go with the 1060 due to budget :)

I think the 1060 is a better choice unless the RX480 can provide unaccelerated screen before kext edit.

If both card only shows black screen after every OS upgrade. It's better on the Nvidia side because you know if the driver is there before you do the OS update.

I wonder if gtx 10 series show boot screen or not with the most recent driver.

It's going to require a massive amount of study, as well as a lot of trial and error. It would be both wiser and more economical to get MVC to do it for you, that or buy a cheap graphics card with Mac EFI for the rare opportunity that you need a boot screen.

so it is impossible to have a bootcamp with gtx 1060 then?

Don't get a GTX 1060 or 1050Ti. As it is now, there are issues with 1060s (especially) where graphical glitches appear on a Mac after it has been woken from sleep. Such glitches won't go away until the user logs out and then back in again. It's very annoying. NVIDIA Is supposedly working on a fix, but it's not gonna happen any time soon.
