i dont think so. It would be much different, infact. How many iBooks use inkwell and a pen for input? That would be none.

I think Apple would sell many to the buisness sector or education. Using the remote desktop idea Alpha and I tinkered with earlier in the thread, office managers and employees could manage their desktops from wherever in the office they are via a carefully contructed and maintained Airport network.

And come on, home many things that are even remotely close to a PDA have optical drives, let alone a combo drive. Even the new OQO thing which sports a fancy Transmeta 1GHZ processor and is the size of a PDA with a built in screen, doesnt have any ability to use an optical drive. In my opinion, taht makes this product VASTLY superior to anything taht is on the markey today.

If any of you have a PDA you would know that inputing information on them is not as easy as a mouse and keyboard. Try and take class notes on one you you will find yourself behind. I have taken my iBook to class, I sit on the couch with it at home and play games, I can walk around my house with it on line via airport. It is not large and bulky and will fit about anywhere. I take it on the road so when someone else is driving I can watch a DVD. The little machine is amazing and I just don't see how this device would be better. I guess if you are too lazy to actually walk over and open your blinds this might be for you, but to me it is a gadget that most people could live without.

The mock up was great and I liked the device, I just think that Apple should be putting their money into things like a G5 for the pros and improved iBooks, iMacs, and eMacs for the consumer. To throw all that money into a product that will be expensive and do less then a laptop is not smart business. I have a Palm and it is a handy device, but I paid around $250 for it. If Apple brings something like this to the market with this type of technology it would be forced to charge $1500-$2500 for it and at that price no one, not even loyal Apple people would fork it over if they knew they can buy a real computer system for that amount. If apple is going to make a PDA or some type of handheld device, then it needs to be priced right, I would say somewhere around the iPods pricing and it needs to be something that can be built off of something they already have. Some of you might forget the flop called the Newton...I would hate to see Apple loose again like they did on that device. There is a reason that Steve Jobs took the Newton off the market, it was to focus on Apples core markets, the desktop and laptop computers and software. Apple has done well focusing on these areas where it is strong.

Viva this thread

Ya so I'm reviving an old thread sorry.

I've been bored this summer and I was roaming the boards the other week when I came upon vitruvius's (sp?) mockup. I figured since he was done with it I'd play around somemore and this is what I got:

homepage.mac.com/crazylb1/FileSharing18.html

Sorry for the large filesize (900kb) I didnt want to compress it because it would be hard to read the text.

Ciao

nice

nice dude!

i send u a PM with some suggestions:)

by the way, if u save it as .jpeg u can get a smaller size without lost so much resolution ( depends on compression level)

I was wondering why it was round... thought you were creating the iRoll or the iFrisbeeGolf until I saw it open to play DVDs.

Which makes the screen too small. If Apple DOES iWalk, I hope they get away from the PDA mindset and create something with a larger higher resolution screen.

Also, it should have a cell phone built in, and an electric razor, so we have something we can do with it while we drive besides watch movies...

The text was well written, pretty Apple authentic. But one suggestion (to the real creator), maybe you should make a 'white' version to fit in with Apple's current line.

What app are you using to make this anyway...

   You won't believe what just showed up at apple's website! I took a snapshot of it to show you guys!

Vitruvius are you sure you just randomly modelled that?

That is pretty cool... you should correct the english and send it into SpyMac.

Corrections before submission:

two "and(s)" in the bottom left text.

"using the program" should be something more Apple like "using the revolutionary"

"DVD's" does not need the apostrophe

"it's" does not need the apostrophe

The iPhoto image is over the "s" in "DVD's".

You should not say "iDisk from you iWalk".... maybe just not say iWalk at all since it is an iWalk "ad".

-------------------------------------------------------

No joke, I think you should go for it, those are only minor changes and those guys would believe ANYTHING

I dont know what you mean with "white version" the device is half chromed /half polycarbonate as the iPod, it maybe looks weird in the crazylb1's composition cause he erased the black surface and changed by a white one , but the chrome still reflecting the original surface ( u can see the original some posts before or in my webpage) anyway thx for the interest, the mock up was modeled in Form•Z and rendered in Cinema 4D with some final retouches in Photoshop
