Interesting. Of course I only lend my phone to my friends who don't look at things like my messages because when they lend me their devices I'm sure they would expect the same from me.
You don't know that they don't.

I have good friends as well but the "Guest Mode/Profiles "is a precautionary feature that fits many people's needs.

There seems to be a demand for added privacy with convenience. Who knew? :p

I think it's a great idea.

Unlike many other cell phones, the iPhone is an entertainment device. Anybody who has kids knows they love to play games or watch shows on the iPhone. Heck, it's a great 20 minute babysitter to keep my son entertained when we go to the barber and I'm in the chair.

It would be great to be able to lock down certain apps so they can enjoy the phone as an entertainment device without without inadvertently messing anything up.

Thank you for your time.

"Don Corleone, I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to your home on the wedding day of your daughter. And may their first child be a masculine child."
:p

Back on topic, a guest account or something similar would be very, very useful! Good thinking OP!

easy way to change accounts would be simply swipe to the lockscreen to change account to log into then have the swipe to unlock.

but thats one idea im sure the guys at apple would have a way better way to impliment an idea like that.

Their people can come up with things we never thought of...except this! :p

Great idea. It's already been brought up here in the forums. That thread never really went anywhere though.

well see its all apart of apples ploy they send people undercover to these forums and have them post new "ideas" and then get the feedback on what the general populous thought about it. If it recieves enough feedback then they will impliment it.

examples: MMS, video recording, Tethering, app store etc...

(all jokes of course)

I think its a fabulous idea. I think profiles are pretty useless. Theres never really multiple users on a phone.. theres the owner, and the person that they lend it to for a second to make a call, check the weather, look up a phone number, or get an address (or something similar)

Profiles are pretty useless. Why would you need to create an entire group of settings for someone who might use the phone a handful of times.

Setting one guest mode that you can customize accordingly would be wonderful

I dont have anything to worry about as far as text messages and stuff, but in general they are private. If i was in a meeting with people and someone needed to the borrow my phone, i would rather know that this random stranger CANT do anything.. I mean, i'm not handing my phone out to people on the street randomly, generally they are business people, or friends of friends.. but still. Its nice to keep everything a little sequestered.

Its a great feature that wouldn't impede the use of those who have no use for it, but would add a load of functionality to people who do need it.
