What other SSDs should I test and Ill try to get my hands on some.

Disk Speed Test

Thanks for the informative review, very useful.
As an aside, do you know of a link to get the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app other than the Apple Store? I do not have a credit card and can't download it from Apple. Another Apple glitch, locked into the system or locked out, take your pick ....

resolved

Thanks, but that link, and following the resultant "Download" buttons, just kicks me into the Apple store again, same old story.
Issue resolved! Using the App Store application was the "wrong" assumption. I had iTunes running in the background, tried again, and everything worked, skipped that annoying Review your Payment method" catch 22 dialoge.
Now able to access the free apps.:)

Power consumption?

It would be interesting to know how long the battery lasts (in a Macbook Pro 13") comparing Vertex 4 and Samsung 830

Anyone have speeds from a Samsung 840 and Samsung 840 PRO to contribute to this list?

It will be so negligible its not even worth the test imo.

My Samsung 840 Pro 256Gb in a 2012 13" cMBP i5 consistently has a 483-489 write and a 513-518 read.

On another note, does anyone know if black magic provides details on 4k random read/write at different queue depths? If not is there an application for OSX that does? I'd gladly posted those numbers.

Do you have any data about the SanDisk Extreme SSD? It is based on SF-2281 controller and SanDisk's own toggle NAND. I am about to install this on a 2012 13 MBP (the higher-end model).

I have the SanDisk 256GB in my cMBP13

When I first installed it, my Blackmagic results were: 261.7 / 480.3

Now, 5 months later: 210.3 / 428.6

Yep, I just bought a Samsung 840 500GB SSD a few days: here is the screenshot I took. (it also has the M4, and the Momentus XT hybrid drive)

So far its a great upgrade to my M4.

Thanks so much, mind if id split the screen shots and add them to my original post with credit to you of course?

The 840-Non Pro results are impressive.

I am in process of updating this thread to be more organized and adding new SSD Benchmarks.

If you have an SSD not listed, if you can please provide benchmarks with a screenshot using BlackMagic Speed Test. Thanks!

Feel free to contribute any information, thanks!

anybody has retina Apple OEM ssd vs OWC Aura Pro bench?

I have an Apple OEM Retina SSD in a 2.5" Enclosure and installed in a 2013 13" MBP that I will be adding to this list.

Here's a screen shot of the Disk Speed Test (Blackmagic) obtained from my Intel 335 SSD, MBP late 2011, TRIM enabled
