On my 2nd install I did the same thing. Reason was after I put in the ML and the Install partition, my Windows 7 would no longer show in the option screen so I just did it all over and used a Flash drive for the Install. Only thing was it took longer from the Flash drive due to USB 2.0 but it worked great.

Issues with Home Sharing in iTunes
Has anyone had issues with Home Sharing in iTunes? Since doing this neither of my AppleTVs have been able to see my shared movies, music or other media that is in iTunes. I've reinstalled iTunes, disconnected and reconnected Home Sharing on all of my devices and to no avail it still does not work. I am able to use Home Sharing on my other supported devices on Mountain Lion. My guess is it has to be something in MLPostFacto because it worked flawlessly on my MacPro running Lion. Any ideas??? 😕

Just wait for the right version for your rig to come along, as stated by the developers, v.0.3 will be the last 32bit version. V.0.4 will be 64bit onward.
To be sure, ALWAYS do a clean install. Especially when going from 32bits to 64bits, I would guess a clean install is the only way possible.
Yea, I'm pretty sure that changing architecture is like a guaranteed reinstall.
Problem here, files do not get copied over to my usb3 drive. I'm doing the cleanup and partitionning of the USB connected drive properly, trying with 10.8.3, but just a few files are being copied over to the drive.
It appears on reboot if i hold the alt key, but it doesnt do anything but hang at the apple logo if i try to boot from it (files are missing, so no big surprise).
Anyone knows what causes this, and how to work around it ? Thanks !

I was tipped not to release 64-bit MLPF until 10.9. Cuz we might be able to use that hack/exploit on 10.9. If we release it now, Apple could have well patched it in 10.9 and we'll have trouble getting things to work later on. Reason is simple, apple is kinda reacting to what we've been doing, some stuffs no longer works in 10.8.4 Beta, but ill get that sorted. We'll see how 10.9 DP1 goes, if it doesn't affect anything, then we'll get 64-bit out. For now, expect 0.3 32-bit & ill sort out as many bugs as possible on 32-bit.

0.3 64-bit for Mac Pro and X1600 will still come as that won't affect anything.

well I think it changes nothing to most of us, except for those who want 1000GB or RAM 🙂. Just to understand, if I install now the 32bit version what do I have to do once the 64bit is out?
I have a Macbook4,1 with X3100 and with 10.7.5 I see the kernel_task is on 32bit, what's the deal then?

Full reinstall. Upgrade is not possible from 32-bit to 64-bit. Common sense 😀. NO 3,1 4,1 ever ran 64-bit regardless what OS. So this is a first.

No, No and No.
2 things you need to know.
64-bit processor ≠ 64-bit EFI (because Apple says so)
32-bit EFI ≠ only runs 32-bit kernel. (It runs 64-bit Kernel too, provided you've got a 64-bit processor)
32-bit EFI = 32 kernel only (Apple Style, no hacks, mods)
32-bit EFI = can run 64-bit kernel (with hacks)
32-bit EFI on Lion = 32-bit kernel.
MLPF32 = 32-bit kernel
MLPF64 = 64-bit kernel

Yes, once it's been completed and released, it should work on your MacBook4,1.
What he was saying is that the MacBook4,1 (along with MacBook3,1) has never officially ran 64-bit OS. MLPF64 will change that!

I read the first page and just wanted to confirm something. If I have a 2006/2007 Mac Pro with a 4870, there is no current patch for ML, and I need to wait for v0.3 beta x64?

Yup, now I know why I skimmed over that post, which I do remember reading: it's for Bonjour, not for SMB or at least it doesn't say explicitly as I read it that it would fix my issue, hence my post. But I did read that Wayne's next version has SMB working, so I'm happy to wait until then. I was just looking for a "quick fix." Thanks for responding.

I might have found one glitch: when sharing my ethernet connection to computers using wifi, it will work if i don't set any security - but if i set WPA2 Personal (the only one available), the wifi simbol will flicker a little, will not show the "up arrow" symbol as expected, and Internet Sharing will not work. Mind you, my main goal would be to use the MacBook as hotspot, and ML is the first Mac OS offering decent wifi-internet sharing security...
Can anyone replicate this behavior? Any hopes for a fix?

It is not out yet. Only Developer Previews. So it is not worth looking into, my guess. They did it with 10.8.3, but that way you can wait forever. If 10.8.3 works, that's great. 10.8.4 would be a bonus. But it is always much better than being stuck at 10.7.5

I had the same Problem!
When u set up the internet sharing Network just hold down the "alt key" and some hidden additional WLAN security options will show up (WEP 40/128 Bit)
select one of these and it will work 🙂
