I hope miniLED and the 32 core GPU is still in the cards for the 16" - dying to upgrade my 2013 13"

Cannot wait. I am still rocking my first Retina MBP from 2012. It is actually running quite well, even with BigSur on it but it is still time to upgrade it. I was just waiting for the "redesign". It will be great not having to miss the SD-Card Slot or HDMI as I still have it right now.

14 inch, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB (everything is in the cloud) for me please!
I cannot run MacOS Big Sur on my mid 2012 Retina MacBook Pro.
How did you do that?

For sure he has sources he’s still the most dependable leaker but he knows more than he says that’s all I’m saying here. His track record is important to him and why he sometimes says this may appear not that it’s coming to save himself if it doesn’t
Isn't that the point?

It seems I'm witnessing posters complaining about responsible journalism.

Gurman is only announcing the news that he can verify, not feeding the wish casting of a select slice of slice of Apple/tech users.

To the I/O experts: What would be the reasoning behind having an HDMI port over DisplayPort?
Thunderbolt 4 incorporates DisplayPort, so that is covered.

<<Thunderbolt 4 includes support for DisplayPort 2.0 (backward compatible), allowing it to power up to three 10K monitors at the same time, or one 16K monitor at 60Hz. Thunderbolt 3 supports DP 1.4 and has enough bandwidth to support two 4K (3840 x 2160) displays at 60 Hz, a single 4K at 120 Hz or a single 5K display at 60 Hz.>>

Well, at least Tim will keep his streak alive of no "one more thing" moments at Apple events. But that's more like a string of strikeouts than a hitting streak...

Does that imply it will not be possible to charge over USB-C? Or just that MagSafe will be the expected and default charging method with USB-C as an alternative, if needed?

I'd certainly have hoped to be able to use either.
There's no way they will ditch charging over USB-C, that would eliminate so many docks and be a step backwards in usability. I suspect they will include MagSafe and USB-C charging. Personally I like to see the return of card readers but I'm perfectly happy with just using USB-C cables.

This is the event I've been waiting since the disappointment in 2016. Back on track with the Macbook development. It's about time.
Yeah, I was in that camp too. After the 2016s were announced, I ended up deciding to pass and purchased a lightly used 2015. It's been a phenomenal machine and one I haven't regretted buying. Still does what I need - though I'm happy to see that Apple course-corrected.

It should be the same strategy than the iPhone's MagSafe, only available as an option at an additional price.

Why does noone think a new MacbookAir will be announced? The last few years the cycle was always about 250 days, a new M1X Air would be an insta-buy for me.

Don't know but all Airs already have Apple Silicon. The upcoming MacBook Pros are replacing ones that still have intel chips

To me several weeks means more than 2 weeks, it will be 100% sure an October event.

I agree that would be sensible - but the wording ("over USB-C") appeared to imply otherwise.

It would be a pain if you have to carry a MagSafe charger with you for that reason alone.

I still have no idea what I am going to do.
Probably get the 14" for personal, and keep my current intel 16" for work purposes [I like them separated out so it doesn't feel like I am permanently working........]
