If it’s not mentioned in a press release and not on the product or comparison charts on apple.com then there’s no way Apple is just slipping it into an update.

Any new product needs reasons for you to upgrade for it to be successful. It’s not going to actively give you good reasons to stick with the old or go out and settle for a discounted pair of Gen 1 APP if you’ve never owned a pair of APP.

Also, the notion that APP Gen 1 can do Adaptive Transparency at all is ridiculous.

Yes I tested it and it does indeed work. So not just a bug showing the toggle in settings. The AirPods Pro firmware have the Adaptive Transparency mode code and it does in fact work.
How about telling us how you tested it and what results you got that convince you that it works (beyond existing functionality)?

Show me that this isn't just confirmation bias.

Sucks if true!
Adaptive transparency and hearing db are the only features worth upgrading, and still nothing for Max!

I assume it's less to do with generosity and more to do with hardware ie H1 vs H2 chip. But who knows, maybe the Air Pods Pro/Max are capable of running a "less optimal" version of Adaptive Transparency and Apple is just being a big meanie.
The max has 2x h1 chips. Surely that should account for something.

Is it still on the new beta that was just released? If so, it might not be a bug

There are two chips in all AirPods, there has to be one in each bud for them to work.

Thinking about development cycles, someone at Apple was surely working on Adaptive Transparency well before the H2 chip was finalized, probably before the original AirPod Pros even shipped. You can bet it was being tested on original AirPod Max and Pros with custom firmware for months to years. Someone likely slipped up and let what was only supposed to be internal code into the beta builds.
