Please. After countless articles about the iPhone 15's buttons, which are of no consequence to anyone. Can we just leave the iPhone 16 button riumours alone and wait and see what the phone has when it is released.

Gurman is simply copying what Ming-Chi Kuo has already previously said and every other rumor mill. These guys are BOTH unbelievable! They have now BOTH literally covered BOTH sides of the fence, which negates anything they have said. How they get any air or traction is beyond belief. How can you be wrong,..right?

Predicting iPhone 15 is hard enough, Trying to guess what Apple is going to do two models away is absurd

Apple's intentions are to eventually have an iPhone with no ports or physical buttons at all, in a totally sealed and glued up slab of glass and aluminium.
Which doesn't solve any (edit: meaningful) problems.

So the rumor didn’t materialize in 2023 Gurman is pushing it to 2024. Based on what source???

Ah Gurman, you are so good! Who would have thought!? No one but Gurman can come to this conclusion now since it was cancelled on the 15.. well done 👍

Still don’t see the problem this is fixing. Is it introducing some new feature set?

Supply side leaks can't always tell us what use case the technology is ultimately intended for

Leaks are anonymous sources. That's their entire point - that there is no official "source".

Does that mean they are also ripe for abuse? Heck yeah, which is why reader discretion is advised.

"Hm, it's more complex and expensive, makes current case designs useless, and gives no added functionality over what's currently available with real buttons. On the other hand, we developed it so we may as well use it."
I see the usefulness, Apple branded cases only! They will not give the rights to anyone else to make cases for the 16/pro/max.

Is that the goal of 3 or 4 rumor sources that MacRumors seems to worship with article after article to misdirect our perspectives to forget about WWDC because they have nothing of any importance to share? So now we spend time predicting not this years, but future products only, what a scam. Oh BTW only 26 days to WWDC now.

It was previously rumoured that the new button design would be wcconoanied by a chip that works in ultra low power even after the phone us off, to ensure the buttons still work.
Yes, I too read that. My question was about resetting, not about being able to use the buttons with a very low battery. Hopefully they will work fine if they are implemented in the future. I personally very much hope they never are. Having to have a big hole in the case for access to the buttons and not working with gloves seems like enough to prevent haptic buttons from happening. Unless tech exists that would allow them to respond to gloved fingers and allow cases with covers over the buttons to function.
