Considering all current iPhones and Macs are limited to bluetooth 5.0...
For a long time you'll only be able to take advantage of this on the iPhone 14 or perhaps the hugely expensive Mac Pro 2022/23

Doesn’t seem likely. Apple has never released headphones that aren’t white.

Apple AirPods Max?

I am still using a battered pair of day one AirPod Pros. They are a product I have definitely got my money’s worth on. Commuting, hiking, biking, running, ANC while working…so many great products coming out this week.

You should search a little more. Bluetooth LE can manage 16 bit and Qualcomm already offers lossless audio in its Bluetooth offerings
They might call it lossless but it isn’t.
isn't it lossless for 16-bit audio? It is lossy above that, but I think 16-bit is supported

The original APP was and still good until all the updates weakened the ANC regardless of the different ear tips used.
Apple needs to fix the ANC so it actually works even if it slowly drains the battery more.
Also, Apple needs to make the inside of the case bigger to allow wider eat tips which should help with the fit and seal.
Lastly, add a button to the case or app for updates as the current method is frustratingly stupid.
ANC and audio quality top of my requirements list. Just invested in a new pair of Bose QCs this week. I have the option to return, let's see what Wednesday brings but I suspect I'll be keeping the Boses.

Passive ANC and audio quality was/still great while using wired ear monitors from Westone/Shure until Apple removed the 3.5mm port! The dongle is a pain to use and can easily be lost.
The ANC was great when I first bought the APPs, but aforementioned, Apple nuked the ANC with its APP updates which is a known issue as it was reported ~1~2 years ago! It was rumoured that the ANC may have used too much juice so the battery life suffered so the updates just killed the ANC.
Waiting to see If Apple fixed the ANC issue for the APP2.

Forgive my ignorance, what is passive ANC?

I feel like the last bloke in London still using wired headphones. My RHAs have been great but having finally had to give up on the iPhone 6S I'm in dongle world now and it doesn't always play ball. Bit embarrassing when you're on a crowded tube and suddenly realise everyone is staring at you as Sons and Fascination starts blaring throughout the carriage

Apple will be hosting a special event at Steve Jobs Theater on Wednesday to unveil the iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8, and more. Ahead of time, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman outlined his final expectations for the event in today's edition of his Power On newsletter.

Notably, alongside new iPhone and Apple Watch models, Gurman expects Apple to announce second-generation AirPods Pro at the event. Gurman did not indicate when the new AirPods Pro would become available to order or share any pricing information.

"I reported last year that new AirPods Pro would arrive in 2022, and now I'm told that Wednesday will be their big unveiling," said Gurman.

Several new features are rumored for the new AirPods Pro, including an upgraded H2 chip for improved audio quality, longer battery life, a new charging case with Find My support, improved in-ear detection, fitness tracking capabilities, and more. The new AirPods Pro also might support Bluetooth's LE Audio specification, which would provide several benefits, including the ability for the AirPods to connect to multiple devices like an iPhone and Mac simultaneously.

Back in 2020, Gurman and Debby Wu reported that Apple had tested a more compact design for the new AirPods Pro that would eliminate the stems below the earbuds, similar to the company's Beats Studio Buds. However, more recent rumors suggest that the second-generation AirPods Pro will not have any significant outward-facing design changes.

Gurman reiterated that Apple is planning to announce a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, along with new Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Pro models. He also said that Apple "won't be discussing" its AR/VR headset plans at this week's event.

Lol

“The most accurate leaker” lol this late in the game this isn’t a leak but internal communications from Apple to Gurman , just y know to help advertise for pent up sales.

Forgive my ignorance, what is passive ANC?

Active ANC uses a power source. Best example are the Bose headphones as you need batteries for the batteries to be turned on to work and to turn on the headphones to use.

Passive ANC is basically using foam tips to fit into one's ears creating a decent seal when then blocks noise. Best examples are the ear monitors (aka in-ear earphones). Compressible foam tips are used which then expands and hopefully creates a nice seal in the ears. You may have to pop your ears if you feel some pressure but that means that it's working. No power sources is needed.

APPs are basically both, more or less, as the ANC can be turned off.
With the ANC turned on, it's active ANC, which reduces battery life for performance.
With the ANC turned off, it's passive ANC; the ear tips should fit and seal the ear's entrance, passively blocking some noise.

Miss my Shure/Westone wired earphones as each cost more than the APPs.

Sounds like you're talking about noise isolation, which yes, all in-ear buds with tips create. But that isn't passive ANC. It's just noise isolation. There's no noise cancelling going on.

Guess I didn’t phrase it correctly but that’s correct.
It’s not passive ANC but more like passive noise isolation.
The point was that no power supply is needed for the noise isolation.
Active noise cancellation (ANC) requires a power supply hence ‘active’.
There are lots of articles that explains the differences better.
