Any news on whether the M3 MBA will be fanless, like its M1 and M2 MBA siblings?

Being fanless is the biggest selling point to me... I love having my laptop next to me in bed, and having a fanless design makes sure that my system doesn't overheat!

I thought being fan-less was one of the prime features of being a MacBook Air. Hence the name “Air”

I'll be looking at one of the ipad's for my artistic daughter (for graduation) that draws with her old one and her apple pencil. Any suggestions?
What's her old one, and is it using the original Apple Pencil 1 (lightning?) or Pencil 2 (magnetic)? Rumors are that as part of the new release this spring, Apple will debut a new Apple Pencil.

If you need Apple Pencil 1 compatibility, the 9th Gen or 10th Gen iPads are good.

If you need Apple Pencil 2 compatibility, I think the current M1 iPad Air is a nice value assuming your daughter doesn't need the stuff in the Pro. But per the topic of this article, this is one of the iPads likely getting a refresh this Spring... so would wait if you can, unless you can get a really good discount on one today. Would not buy one of these full-price from Apple today.

That was 3 years ago this coming Fall

It's time for an iPad Mini 7, even if all it gets is better screen tech

(The Mini 6 has the worst current brand new screen that Apple sells, in any product)
I didn’t say it was recent. 😉 Just saying that you shouldn’t expect a lot of changes. A couple minor things like processor maybe. The iPad mini is more like the iPhone SE.

That’s because due to the intel chips, the MacBook would get hotter than the fire of a thousand suns
I guess what I'm asking is whether the stories of the M3 getting really hot would make them have to add fans to a new M3 MacBook Air.

Yes unfortunately it's clear that Apple has decided, intentionally, to:
1) Have number of external displays that the MBA can output to (1) be a differentiator between it and the Pro lineup
2) Keep iPad to iPadOS and not have it truly crossover to MacOS

This is all intentional, and unrelated to whether the hardware could support it (or be modified to support it). Whether that may change well into the future, it's always possible, but near- to medium-term, I think a virtual certainty it won't be changing.

But iPad has iPad OS, which makes it useless.

Let the iPad get native macOS like the MacBooks then it's a good deal.
introducing MacPad! ... but seriously, Apple has zero motivation to do that ... now they sell you the package as two devices

Might consider a new iPad Pro if they offer it with 4 TB of internal storage. Otherwise I will wait for another release cycle. I am more interested to see if Apple releases a M3 Ultra Studio in 2024. Frankly, I am in no rush to upgrade.

It just seems strange that Apple would release a revamped iPad pro with oled and then release an iPad ultra? what will the iPad ultra have that the new pro won't? slightly larger screen? i doubt they can put a m3 pro in it with no fans. Besides m3 pro is not going to have any use over m3 for iPad OS.

I think @john1970 was referring to the Mac Studio, with M3 Ultra. Not an iPad Ultra...
