Does he not care about the mini, or is it such a minor change they can’t tell because of supply chain differences?

All I want is a refreshed Mini, I’d like a Mini Pro though, but will just take a refreshed one. Don’t want to buy an already 2.5 year old device for the same old $100 discount. Give me $200 off and I might consider it…
Just wanted a mini without a trash screen and a bit more ram.

Sorry I use my iPad air 4 for at least two hours a day so what a blinkered statement !
Yep, I use my iPad way more than my MacBook. However, I use my Mac mini more than my iPad.

My next computing purchase is an iPad Pro OLED, despite the fact my MacBook is just as old as my old iPad Pro.

I wonder if the iPad Pro and Air will share the same design to be able to use a refreshed Magic Keyboard? or if the new Magic Keyboard will be for the Pro only?

That will be interesting for sure... the only thing about my current Magic Keyboard is the lack of function keys... which I increasingly notice. Not being able to instantly dim the backlight etc and a larger trackpad would be welcome... and if they could do it... to enable it to angle back just that little bit extra would be a sure ergonomic winner (I feel anyhow)...

But Im not so sure how much more money I can spend on keyboards 😂 I mean Id probably buy a new Magic Keyboard for my iPad Air 4 (it still works perfect), if its still compatible, and then can upgrade the iPad Air in 2 or 3 years and still use the same keyboard. But to buy a new Magic Keyboard and new iPad Air at the same time to get that keyboard benefit... Im looking at $1000 at least.... and it's just not a great value.
The new iPad Pro will undoubtedly have a new form factor which will necessitate new keyboards. I don't know about the Air, but I suspect the Air will also get a new design that mirrors the new Pros. I do wonder if they will release both a new Magic Keyboard and new Smart Keyboard Folio though. I've been thinking about which keyboard to buy, and the Smart Keyboard Folio is a definite contender, partially because it's so much lighter.

Anyone know if OLED technology typically improves latency with a stylus/Apple Pencil?

If no, then I’ll keep my eye out for M2 refurb. I fear this new OLED iPad Pro OLED will be prohibitively too expensive.

Also wondering when.
Launching new mini this year when mini 5 with A12 has 2 years of ipadOS support ahead, is not going to persuade mini 5 users. In my opinion. I would say next year. Or some mini 7 with traditionally huge number of minor to useless differences to mini 6 advertised as huge leap forward of mini 5. Lol.
Yes of course i know, i have conflict of interests here, the mini 5 i am using runs flawlessly. Display technology upgrade on the mini may change my mind.
i couldnt deal with the screen jello effect.
September 24, 2021 last gen ipad mini :(

few people use their iPad regularly… mostly gathers dust.

they won’t upgrade if apple hike prices as rumoured

dont blame apple for slashing millions off their forecast.

2-14 hours a day (possible) depending on weekday or weekend. Play games on pc monitor, watch youtube/vlc on iPad.

That's sort of the big question for me. I still have the 1st M1 iPad Pro and want to upgrade, but not if I have to worry about burn-in.

I'm not a person that will say burnin doesn't exist because it does. But with normal usage it can be a long ass time before it happens. Even when it happens it doesn't mean the device is broken, nor that it will always be visible or even (very) noticeble.
And Apple has got 'special' panels now according to rumours that are even more resistant to burn in. I actually bought a 32"miniled 4k/HDR monitor for my gaming pc instead of a oled monitor but I think I'd be ok with getting this new ipad instead of my 2018 iPad Pro model. And thats saying something. ;p

---

I'm at least really looking forward to more information or the "presentation" (Maybe we'll have a prerecorded video?).

info from my ipad;
according to the analytics data from my iPad, not sure how accurate that is,
last_value_MaximumCapacityPercent":85
last_value_MaximumFCC":8177, last_value_NominalChargeCapacity":6676," 81/82% health then?
last_value_CycleCount":1954

The rumour is that Apple will be using dual-stack OLED panels. They have higher peak brightness, and are much more resistant to burn-in.

Note that they already exist in the wild, but they are expensive, and they are low volume. The rumour is that Apple has worked with various manufacturers to dramatically increase the production volumes for dual-stack OLED panels, while keeping prices of the panels in check.

Just goes to show that the iPad Air 5th gen was overly generous with the M1 processor (same as the iPad Pro). Looks like future iPad Airs are going to be an M chip generation behind the Pro going forwards.

iPad Pro - latest M chip (M3 at next launch)
iPad Air - previous M chip (M2 at next launch)
iPad Mini - previous A chip (A17 at next launch if this Autumn)
iPad - A chip from lowest iPhone still available (A15 if launched in Spring/Summer)

False. My iPad Pro long ago replaced my MBP for my daily computing needs. I’ll happily pay the premium for the value I receive which includes but is not limited to portability and the Apple ecosystem. This allows me to work seamlessly outside the home then transition to my desktop when I get home in the evening. Priceless. I’m confident I’m not alone in this use case.

The very popularity of this thread suggests there’s plenty of pent up demand.

iPad mini update or go home! Lol

Yeah, it seems logical if there is an iPad Pro design change to make it thinner, that it will necessary to have a modified Magic Keyboard... but whether the new iPad Air will share the same Magic Keyboard... there has been no rumours I know of.

But it would be odd if it doesn't get a new Magic Keyboard... as you will end up in a situation where the mid tier (Air) has a magic keyboard with no function key row, whereas the new Pro Magic Keyboard (almost certainly) and base iPad keyboard will.

I love MR but can’t stand mark gurman. He’s clickbait with a pulse. Dude said last week and when that didn’t materialize he’s now “sometime march to April”. Ms Cleo of tech.

I predict this week... and if not, I predict next week..

I predict iPads will be updated... and Macs too.. and possibly a new Apple TV in a few years.

The iPhone will get updated this summer... new watches too.. and a few straps. Different colours expected.

I got to go off on a bit of a rant here so please forgive me!

Im getting really friggen sick of this nonsense. Announce the damn things allready with a price and a release date or dont because im not a wealthy person, it takes me a long time to save up for these things, and often i trade in older devices to offset the cost of the new one, and i try to find the best trade in deals so i get the most value i can...and last October i traded in a mint condition Ipad Pro 11 inch M2 based off rumors that a new Ipad would be launched soon and it wasnt and ive held out buying a new ipad pro since then and every single time theres a new rumor or what ever, its all misleading and clickbate.

I got 1600 dollars currently saved up for a new ipad and that money could go for many other things. A new OLED Tv to replace my aging plasma tv. Or get a decent Gaming PC that gives me way more options then my mac or any ipad could...yet im loyal to apple, foolishly at times, and i am beginning to question why and lately i feel like since i am not a wealthy person, apple could really care less about me and others like me and its not a good look to be honest.

For example...id love to every year update my computer to the latest and greatest, but practically i cant afford it even with trade in (Still rocking an M1 Baseline Imac).

Id love to have the Apple Vision Pro but with my budget it would take me 6 plus months to save up for it. I want an OLED Ipad, been wanting one for years, something that matches the screen quality of the Iphone 15 pro max i have (which again took me a while to save for and off set the cost with a 14 pro max trade in) but i knew those phones would be out in September so i planned ahead.

If i knew the apple vision pro would be launched in February i would have budgeted starting in June of last year to be able to afford one at launch. Instead i got a vague Early 2024 release date, and based on past events that seemed like a March event and there were other things i had to purchase before that.

Last week the rumor was every day last week we will get a new product....Nope, just a Macbook Air refresh. "Oh but next week will be the Ipads"

Now its next week, and nothing, and they say "Oh what we really mean is THE FOLLOWING WEEK"

This is a bad joke now. Between the ever shifting reveal and release dates rumors, the increased price rumors...its like i only got so much to work with and Im willing to spend the money, but i need to know when and how much.

I cant just go out and drop 2000 plus at launch on a product. I need to know ahead of time and its really pissing me off that no one can give me a streight answer.

Yet i can go to Samsung right now and buy a brand new smart phone or OLED Tablet!

Ugh. its just aggervating. Im tired of waiting on rumors!
Complaining about rumors... on a forum dedicated to rumors. Amazing.

It's not Apple that's being wishy-washy with the release date, it's analysts that are speculating and/or reporting on rumors. Apple will announce it when it's ready. Or, you can stop waiting for future products and visit their website right now to purchase a phone or tablet... just like Samsung.

We’ll see!

Traditionally, Gurman has been pretty well informed. He’s, however, been significantly and consistently off since basically last year… so I’m not sure what to make of this.
Traditionally he says enough stuff at a time that some of it will be right and he gets credit. A lot of the correct stuff is stuff we are also hearing from others. I take anything that comes from him with a huge grain of salt

iPhones use 6.1"/6.7" OLED screens, hear anyone complaining about burn-in? Normally when in use you are using the SDR mode, not HDR.
1000 nits max brightness (typical)
1600 nits peak brightness (HDR)
2000 nits peak brightness (outdoor)

OR...and bare with me here...people can just stop making **** up for clicks and views and put out ACCURATE INFO! (Mark Gurmann)

My iPad Pro 2018 was gathering dust for a year, until recently.

I simply started using it on the sofa and in bed, rather than my phone, and it’s way, way better.

it might be a big iPhone in my case but watching YouTube and browsing / shopping on it is so nice.

I should become a tech insider like Gurman and Kuo because it seems like even if you get most things wrong, people still think you are a reliable source 🤣

My iPad gets used every day. I am hoping for a new mini this year as it is perfect for use in aviation.

There will be an event for the new iPads in March.
There will be no event in March just some videos online and press releases.
Nothing today so now it’s going to be end of March or early April.

Whatever sticks to the wall
