Will they be announced today, in about 30 mins? or next week
nothing this week if the hands on is on wednesday next week.

Makes zero sense to announce this week and then have the press seeing it next week. I think its safe to disregard this week and just wait for next week press release videos

It's very strange that they offer Mac Minis with Pro chips, but not iMacs. The only 2 reasons I can think of are that they are planning an iMac Pro or they made the iMac so thin, the Pro chip would run too hot.
They know if they did that, it would pull a lot of sales from the Studio and Studio Display.

I guess the iMac has reached a point where any future design changes will be minimal. At 11 mm, it can't get much thinner.

Still no love for the pros.
Where is Mac Studio and Mac Pro ? They never even had M3, and they will be the last to be updated.
Like a month before the M5 mbpros are announced, probably. Or maybe they’ll skip M4 as well…

Gotta give Bloomberg and Gurman credit for managing to keep this scam going for so long. Once again nothing but educated guesses anyone following Apple could make. As for the media event someone who’s been invited likely tipped him off on that so will actually be accurate.

Apple is planning to launch its first Macs with the M4 series of chips "very soon," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In a social media post today, Gurman said these Macs will include new MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini models specifically. He continues to expect the next Mac mini to feature a "revamped" design, in line with his previous reporting that said the new model will be nearly as small as an Apple TV and gain two front-facing USB-C ports.

No major design changes are rumored for the next MacBook Pro and iMac models, but the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to gain an additional Thunderbolt port compared to the current model, based on alleged leaks earlier this month.

It's not entirely clear if Apple plans to hold an online event this month, like its "Scary Fast" event on October 30 last year, or if the new Macs will be announced with Apple Newsroom press releases only like the iPad mini 7. If there is an event this month, Apple would likely invite the media to watch it online very soon. Apple sent out invites for the October 30 event last year on October 24, six days in advance.

Gurman said the new Macs will be accompanied by unspecified "USB-C accessories." MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris recently discovered code references to new versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard, and these accessories will likely switch from Lightning to USB-C for charging alongside the new iMac. In the EU, a regulation requiring USB-C as a common charging port goes into effect later this year.

Here is everything that Apple is likely to announce:

  • 14-inch MacBook Pro with the standard M4 chip
  • 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro and M4 Max chip options
  • iMac with the standard M4 chip
  • A redesigned, smaller Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chip options
  • Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard accessories with USB-C ports
Update: In a follow-up post, Gurman said that Apple is inviting the media and content creators to a hands-on experience in Los Angeles next Wednesday, and he believes this means the new Macs would need to be announced before then.

He did suggest no event yesterday, although didn't rule out an event happening. He may have been suggesting an October event for months before that? Like you say, he's done well to keep the gig going this long since he went mainstream and lost most of his inside sources. :D

Small, iterative upgrades between major updates has been the case since at least 2007. Are you expecting "groundbreaking" every year or two?

Actually, I am. Huawei can release a tri-fold phone, let alone a regular folding phone. And here Apple is with practically the SAME thing Steve Jobs unveiled back in 2007…nearly 20 years ago. Computers? The last thing that Mac released that really revolutionized anything was the MacBook Air…shown back in 2008. These are items that people use and Apple took it to the next level. AVP? This is an item nobody uses yet Apple is trying to tell people they need it and should buy it. Nothing groundbreaking about that at all. Again, boot Tim Cook and get someone in there who isn’t afraid to actually take a chance.

I am glad someone else realizes that Tim Cook has zero vision and leadership ability. Only kudos to him is that he did not run Apple to ground but he did not do any better. He had a gravvy train handover to him due to unfortunate Jobs demise and Tim might be a good manager but he ain't a leader or visionary at all.

Apple Silicon is the most significant revolution since the PowerPC era.

So revolutionary that they’re the only ones using it. Proprietary, or not…still the only ones. You could take an intel pentium from aeons ago and an apple silicon chip/info sheet and put them side by side…the average consumer couldn’t tell you any difference between the two. Consumers don’t care about what’s inside, they want the features of the product on the outside. Apple is going absolutely nothing fresh in that department. Again, just like the AVP, these apple products aren’t changing much at all outside of the Apple landscape. Revolutionary in their own little playground. Nothing beyond it. The iPhone changed how everyone used a phone even if they didn’t use an Apple product. Same with the MacBook Air, it changed the way everyone used a laptop even if it was Microsoft, Linux, etc based. Tim Cook needs to go and Apple needs to vote for Pedro! 😂

Consumers do care about being able to spend a whole day working on a laptop without having to worry about the battery running out. They also car about laptops that stay cool under normal use and not needing a heat shield between the laptop and their legs. Consumers also care about computers that don't emit a lot of fan noise.

Apple just slashed iPhone 16 orders by 10 million units, sluggish computer sales, etc…but, hey…what do I know. ‘Revolutionary’ new chips from Apple should save the day! You’re the best, Tim Cook! 😂
