Except the average Apple Watch doesn’t cost $3500, doesn’t need an external battery pack, and doesn’t require prescription lense inserts for those who wear glasses. This is a dud.
These are all things that will be iterated upon, and doesn’t suggest that it won’t succeed in the long run. If the platform is compelling, the hardware will catch up.

Has to make someone paying $3500 feel good when they already actively working on the better model.
I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to say here.
If you buy any Apple product at any price point… They’re still working on a better version of it internally.

You can currently buy a totally maxed M2 MBP for over $6000, and guess what?
The M3, M4 and M5 series of Macs are currently in development.

Can’t tell you how many people declared Apple Watch a dud, even years after it was originally released, before it became the most popular watch in the world.
If the Watches cost $3,500 and didn’t solve any problems….those people may have been right. Every successful Apple device has solved problems. The Vision Pro enhances your experience, but gives users no “need” to get one. On top of that, it’s the most expensive base Apple product to ever be released.

In my opinion, Apple will launch a cheaper Vision Pro ONLY if the overall quality of the device remains the same. Glad they're working on a more expensive. This will make it easier to lower production costs.
Agree, I think once it’s it gets to the 1,500 price range people are more likely to buy one

There is NO way I buy this device if I also have to buy prescription lens add-ins. This would be way too expensive and probably a PITA to make arrangements to get the lenses made (not counting the time it would take to even make the lenses)

The price needs to come down too

What parts of it do you want to cut to knock 58% off the price? Resolution? Some of the cameras (which means it won't work as well)? Older SOC so that it works slower?

Insert a Macbook here as a proxy. People also complain about the prices of MB- even the minimum spec (8GB & 256GB). What I don't see is many people calling for a lower resolution/cheaper screen, or 2GB-4GB RAM & 64GB-128GB SSD, less battery, no camera, no speakers, etc. to get that lower price.

So, identify what parts Apple should significantly weaken/remove in Vpro for 58% off... because $3500 or $1500 is not interchangeable for the same product.

That's the part that is missing in all Vpro threads. Everyone seems to want a lower price but none seem to identify how to get what they want by naming what features they want to cut to fit whatever price they covet.

Is it worth buying just to keep it sealed and make money off it many years later like the original iPhone?

At the moment im only interested in the Vision Pro for replacing the cinema experience for films (Infuse in particular). But the idea that over the period of ownership I'll have to keep buying lenses as my eyes deterotiate is really off putting - ordinary glasses/spectacles are expensive enough without adding an Apple set too. That said...I imagine there'll be a secondhand market for lenses quite quickly.

I definitely like the idea of lighter, but those prescription lensed ones are going to be even more of a problem that what they have now. People's eyes change, and you couldn't share the headset with someone else.

What they really need is a dynamic lens that can either adjust itself to a prescription, or it can read your eyes to figure out its own prescription. I don't want much, do I. :)

Where are you getting that from? Apple is absolutely not focussing this around gaming, even if that is a possible use case.
You can start with MacRumors....."The headset will have a gaming focus, and Apple is solidifying its reputation for gaming with the iPhone 15 Pro models."

I can send you about 15 other articles if you'd like....

It is the most popular, although I still can't agree with their funny way of comparing Apple Watch sales (prior to announcing Series 2) with those of Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier and others that

a) cost more then majority of Apple products combined
b) retain their functionality and value far longer than Series 2.

I'm excited about the technology the Vision Pro represents, but even as somebody who's historically been an early adopter, the price tag plus the additional requirement of specialized prescription lenses make the expected first gen a nonstarter for me.

Apple have to focus but in the starting price 🤣 if they gonna sell the first one at 3499 and drop the next models (pro and non pro) not a problem for everybody

That‘s always true when you buy any technology. You always know the manufacturer is working on a better model.

oh hey apple is already working on the next iteration of something that isn't out yet and they are planning to make it better.

comedy clickbait

You guys aren’t keeping up with the MacRumors articles, apparently. ;)

“The headset will have a gaming focus, and Apple is solidifying its reputation for gaming with the iPhone 15 Pro models. There's an A17 Pro in the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ and Pro Max that allows for console-quality gaming, and Apple is working with developers to bring console games to the device. Cook said that Apple is "very serious" about gaming and that it is "not a hobby" for the company. "We're putting all of ourselves out there," he said.”
