The thicker the mesh the more masculine it is (as illustrated in the photos above) so in order to make it unisex they made the mesh more fine, but it's definitely not feminine.

Only if you think chain mail armor looks feminine.

I second that sentiment. I had that thought earlier today while trying it on again, chainmail for the wrists.

All this talk about what's feminine and what's not feminine is nonsense. If a guy is worried that his watch is going to push him over the edge of appearing feminine then maybe he should more closely scrutinize the rest of his look and demeanor.

I've said it in other threads but a watch is not going to effect your masculinity one way or the other. You're either masculine or you're not, a watch isn't going to help that either way.

I'll mirror what others have said though. It appears that mesh bands have been around for mens watches for a very long time and there are quite a few unisex and female only versions as well.

I'd say the mayo loop is more of an exquisite looking band. It's more fashion forward I'd say. I'd expect to see a guy that's rocking D&G and Armani to wear a mayo loop. It could work dressed down as well I guess.

Question one needs to ask themselves is does it go with your style/look. I could see the mayo loop quickly becoming the signature Apple watch because of it's uncommon look.

Not really, I've seen watches with that design that tons of men use. I for now think it looks great.

Thanks. My cousins, both very mens men, love the look and are quite jealous I ordered mine.

It looked the most comfortable to me and the more I've seen it and in real world pics, it keeps growing on me.

I can't wait to see mine when it arrives in a couple of weeks.

Interesting comment about the signature look. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If by gay you mean well groomed with a worked out fit body, intelligent, well educated, articulate, well dressed, talented, insightful, intuitive, successful and desired by both men and women then sign me up, in fact I'll take two!!!

But it's 'Milanese' and I'm of Italian descent. I'm immune.

I think he meant the true meaning of the word 'gay'( happy) - that we all got our preorders in the first delivery window :D

They arent feminine. You think they are feminine. That is an opinion at best.

Read my post again. I said I 'feel' it is feminine. You 'think' they aren't feminine. I 'feel' you are wrong.

See how that works?

I think it's pretty unisex. In fact, I ordered a Milanese band separately for my aluminum sport watch, and I even got the 38mm.

I had similar reservations which is why I brought my girlfriend with me to the Apple Store to make sure, before I dropped a few hundred on the Milanese band (it's $199 here in Canada). She thought the Milanese band actually made the 38mm watch look more masculine than any of the sport bands.

The pictures I've seen that people have posted from within the Apple Store actually make the band look less feminine to me than the press shots.

I ordered it just because the link was too pricey and it looked comfortable. The modern buckle looks feminine to me.

All the guys I know who are interested in an  watch love the look of the Milanese.

One of the things that I don't like about the Milanese loop is that it's too thin in my opinion. Like if it were thicker, it would be more masculine. Instead it seems more like a girl's watchband IMO.

Just my 2 cents. It was my first impression when trying it on.

I don't think it looks feminine at all, then again I'm perfectly comfortable and confident in my manhood and want the pink sports band for mine just because it looks cool.

Be a man and get the Milanese loop

It looks way too feminine to me. I bought the band for my wife's 38mm Sport. I went with a black leather loop for my Sport. A 38mm with Milanese is the girliest combination there is in the lineup.

Not feminine. Feline.

I thought the milanese band was quite bold and masculine in the pictures but upon seeing it on people's wrists it's a lot less impressive. Maybe that's why the OP finds it feminine looking.

nah

My wife and I tried it this weekend and I'd say it is def unisex. It looked chain mail-y on me and jewelry-ey on her. Top that off with the fact that it is darn comfortable.

I bought a milanese for summer because I find the sports a bit warm and sticky when it's hot outside.
It's very confortable . My only concern when I ordered it was that it looked a bit too masculine ..

Omega has made a "mesh" bracelet for decades that is more of a chain mail type link. The closeups of the Apple Watch in the keynote led me to believe it would be like Omega's. My first reaction to Apple's was that the mesh was much too fine, and rather 1960s Liberace cocktail watch-esque.
