LOL!! Why is it a surprise to everyone??? Did most of you think that we live in a free country such as the UK or US??? We are being constantly watched and dictated to as to what we can say do and go. Aint no difference between us and the likes of North Korea, its just that our Iron Fist wears a silk glove :D

Without reading all the other responses...

It's easy to assume that this information was mined/used/whatever by the FBI, and quite possibly true... It's also possible the data was acquired as evidence against a third party who had mined/whatever'd this data.

I have no idea in either way, but anything is possible.

Iphone 4S UDIDs

IPhone 4S UDID's on this file can be used to run Siri from any device (including Iphone 4 and Ipod Touch). Just google!!

That's a good reason to post the info on internet.

----------

A UDID by itself is useless.

What you would be doing is giving other information (e.g. IP address, computer info) to the hackers to link in with the UDID linked information.

Not useless, with a simple UDID u can run Siri from any iphone.

I mean, Just get the IPhone 4S UDID From this file, search google. That's what you need to run siri on your ipod touch and iphone 4.

So if your UDID is in the list, and you don't mind us invading a little more of your privacy, list all the apps you've ever bought/installed on your iPhone/iPad mentioned.

It would be very interesting to find which app/s are common.

Yes, but I believe we can limit it to Universal apps (because both iPhones and iPads from me were in the list) and Apps which receive push notifications.

Ironic that the US government will send troops half way round the world to fight tyranny, dictatorship or whatever. Yet at home are looking to monitor every inch of peoples lives.

It's no better here in the UK either. No doubt GCHQ now have me flagged as a hacker, subversive or otherwise undesirable :D

Well if your UDID is on the list and you're really THAT worried about it, there is a way to change your MAC address, which recalculates the UDID. @i0n1c was talking about it on Twitter. Jailbreaking is required.

Thankfully mine wasn't... I don't want to spend the whole night up hax0rzing.

Mine isn't there either, but who to say that this list is the only list floating around. I bet the FBI has everyone's info, I mean why target just this million?

What is the FBI doing with that info?

Probably the point of this leak - to cause a debate about IMHO also pretty valid reasons.

Wow, and just from a random FBI laptop... A device intended to be mobile. Sounds secure.

I love it how the US protects their so called "freedom" with methods used in countries like North Korea, China and Belarus. I think the US is far beyond the point where they protect their citizens and are more in controlling them. And guys that has nothing to do with a federal government. 95% of the world has a federal government and far more freedom then you guys have. Being watched and knowing that data is collected about every of my movement for my security would make me question my freedom. Wake up!

So, let me get this straight…

A FBI laptop gets hacked (ITS THE MOTHERFLIPPIN FBI FOR CRYING OUT LOUD) and then there are over 12 million UDIDs on it? So in the eyes of the FBI we have over 12 million terrorists? We aren't safe any more.

George Orwell has proven to be right (with a delay, though): Big Brother is watching you.

That's some ******** right there. Apple needs to come out on this, on the side of the consumer. There are legit pathways for law enforcement to get someone's information during a legitimate investigation. Having a massive DB of everyone's ***** on-demand on a laptop is utterly disgusting and frankly quite disturbing.

Wonder how many investigations they cheated on then... already having some of the information they'd normally need a warrant to seek out.

Jeez.
