If I recall the first iPad had the same empty feeling at first, like it was just a bigger iPhone. I'm sure they'll adjust the iPad Pro as needed. I'd like to see more icons per screen myself, or at least have the option to decide how many to display.

In the meantime, if you want that full feeling you can always turn on the zoom feature in the display setting. After using that I feel much better about the native display of the iPad Pro. :)

I like my background pic....but then again I don't spend much time looking at my icons past organizing them for quick access.

Well, if one likes their iPad Pro to look like "Fisher-Price's My First Tablet" I guess the current situation is fine.

If Apple increased the screen to support 40-48 icons, you still have the choice to keep only 5 or 10 icons.

Having the OPTION to have more icons on a single screen simply makes things easier and more direct for those who use a lot of apps and want to see them on as few screens as possible.

Fisher Price yeah lol spot on mate, it's ludicrous, I do hope they allow adjustments.
I just bought one, thing its amazing so far except for this wasted space, had similar thoughts with air, its perfect for phone, but guess it's essentially just a phone OS. They are smart people I am sure they will work it out.

They should provide options for this. Personally I might like to have a super dense icon grid for a while, then maybe go back to sparse.

So if Apple had more icons on the "home screen" it would no longer be a phone OS? I'll ask again how much time do people spend looking at the home screen? My guess would be not much time at all.

My battery usage typically shows almost 10% on "home & Lock Screen" (for both past 24 hours and last 7 days). Right now on my phone it is the 5th most used:

Phone 20%
Mail 20%
Messages 20%
Safari 14%
Home & Lock Screen 7%
...

Now, I am not sure how much of the 7% is lock screen vs. home, but I don't recall spending much time looking at the locked screen, especially with the touch ID on my 6+.

I think it is "dropping the ball" by not adding more, I mean, when apple came out with the 5, they added more rows than the 4 because of added real estate, same with the 6/6+ right?

Number of icons doesn't bother me at all but the size of banner notifications is pretty silly. They are the same proportional size as air 2 but they end up being super huge on the pro screen. Hopefully they refine those down smaller in the future.
