Also rememeber that your hair is a minor thing and it grow back in no time. I would gladly trade a crappy hair cut to the stuff I put up with. and Emotional issues I am still stuggling with months later that keeping me from sleeping at night. (broken heart, Giving up a dream I had for 10 years, and losing a position that was imporant to me and all the after effects of the 3 seperate things) Big one is trying to figure out who I am.

Hair it grow back and worse case is it leave a mark on you that make you never want to get short hair but not a perment emotional scare. Trust me when i tell you those suck and the thing that leaves them are not phyical apperent stuff that grows back. No it be things like a broken heart. Hair not going to leave it unless it was permented.

Rememeber you Hair is not you identity or who you are. If it is then we have another entire problem. Remember you are still your self and still the same person you where before you cut your hair. You physical appernece may change but the person who you are on the inside is still the same.

Rememeber the people who are close to you. Dont see you physical beauty. No they see who you are on the in side and that pass on to what they see on the out side. Some one you love they are beautiful no matter how they look. You dont see the out side appence you only see the inside and that you project on the out side.

Said part is the world in very shollow. I learned not to care what most of world thinks of me. The people who opinans matters are mine and the people who are the closes to me and I trust. If you not among that select group I dont care.

To all the people who posted nice comments, thanks, I appreciate it.

I think I will stay off for a week, I have 2 days holidays, 1 day free and the other 2 are art, which I can do at home.

My hair does grow pretty darn farn like I said, and in a week, it should be even-enough to manage a #2 all over.

Thanks to everyone who suggested seeing a stylist, I was thinking of making a 'feature' of it, but thinking about it, over 7/8 days, its surprising how much it will grow - its just the initial shock of "Jesus whept, I'm bald!".

B.T.W: For those people saying go Zero, thats what the mistake is. My Dad knocked my concentration switchin blades, and I started to shave back from my fringe without a blade. When I realised, it was too late.

I've put some fake tan on the batch now, its black and stubbly hair, so maybe with some colour underneath it won't look so stark.

I think in time for the fashion show, I will be fine. :)

Thanks for that. And to elfin buddy, iGary, and mkrishnan, PlaceOfDis, Bern, ChrisWB, Mactastic and True777 - thanks to you also.

Stuff it, I'll go to school. If they say anything, **** 'em! I've put up with a lot recently, and it was just like the last straw this happening now, it was like home life, school life, everything was down the pan.. and then looking forward to my weekend and BAM.. there goes that.

Its hair, it'll grow back in 2 weeks by the fashion show, at least to a length thats not bald! :)

Glad you got over the initial shock of it all. I was under the impression that your hair was longer (hence the wig suggestion) so I wasn't trying to be mean-spirited. :)

In any case, glad to see you're going to brush it off, so to speak.

LIke i listed the reasoning behind my thoughs on it just hair. Like I said it grows back and doesnt change who you are. And if that all the meaning to you then you have larger issues to deal with that hair.

But the best advice is go pay some one 20 bucks to damage control. yeah it not going to look the best but like you said about 2 weeks it be back. It most be during those 2 weeks it will look better because either way it going to need to 2 weeks if you dont do it now. It more look like complete crap for 2 weeks or just look meh for 2weeks. At 2 weeks it be fine and heck you may discover a completely new hair style you like.

Take advatage of this and go short and see how it looks.

Skipping school because of bad hair... I'm trying very hard to refrain from laughing.

Come on, hairs only hair. Shave it all so that its short and be done with it, its not about how you wear your hair, its about the confidence to pull it off. Walk into school with a smile on your face after shaving it off and be done with it. Just say "I thought I'd try something new".

Look at old Beckham's hair, he's had some aweful hair cuts in his time but he's confident about it. You don't have to be a celebrity to pull it off, I know several guys that have suddenly changed their hair to something aweful and have pulled it off because they've played the confidence card. Guys can change their hair loads and it doesn't matter.

Covering it up with fake tan just sounds like you're asking for trouble. Its like those anti balding sprays. Its always obvious, everyone can see and you look like a fool for trying to hid it.

I would either a. go to a hair dresser and pay the $40 or w/e and get it fixed, or b. save yourself the money and don't worry about it.

People might make fun of you, just laugh along with them, in a 2 weeks when your hair grows back everyone will forget about it. Perhaps one day you will look back and laugh about it.

Its not worth missing school over. If anyone says something about it, just laugh with them or don't listen. Hey- maybe they might like the new style!

Good Luck!

~Erik

Dude, shave yourself a mini mohawk. Not a big one, a small one. They look uber cool. I would do it myself if I wasn't growing out my hair. I had a bad haircut like a month ago, but it's grown in nicely. If I was to cut it off I'd goto for the mini-hawk, it's really trendy.

no don't, a mohawk is a difficult look to pull off. Rather, cut it into a faux hawk (not shaved on sides but shorter). Unless you meant a faux hawk Samlchi because they are trendy these days, then im completely sorry for falsely correcting you :p

My school has like 1,500+ students.. and they would rip the p*ss.

I'm well known, and like to take care of my appearance.

Kids will be kids I know, but in my school there are a lot of idiots, I guess like any school. I just cant be putting up with it right now.
If you are so well known aka popular no one will "rip the piss" out of you.
However, if you really like to take care of your appearance, you'd pay someone to cut your hair for you like most metros do. ;)
And if you think pissing your school studies away for your hair is a good idea then I'd recommend you re-evaluate your priorities.

Thanks, but like I said - there is nothing there to fix.

I used a clippers without any guard over the blade. Its just stubble, like someone who hasn't shaved for a day.

My dad did the same thing to me on accident once. I asked him to clean up my neck with the clippers, and he drove the thing 4 inches up the back of my head. He said he didn't hear me right. Humm. It was really bad, a big missing square on the back of my head. We went to the salon and they did what they could, but I looked pretty ridiculous for 2 weeks or so.

That was in highschool, now it's just a funny memory.

And.. in 2 weeks... were things more-or-less inline? You know, you weren't bald, you had hair there, not just stubble?

Please, give me hope.. I have a show to present in 13 days (basically, that 2 week bumper) :)

If anyone pays you out about it being shaved, just tell them you did it to raise money for cancer research. That'll shut them up.

LOL. If only.. but I would go to hell!

(Don't mean to make a joke of cancer.. for anyone who gets offended!)

That's actually a good idea. I don't mean to make light of people who really do things to raise money for research, but I do remember vividly how awful it was to stick out in any way in HS. (All you posters who wonder how he would react to a "real" problem...this is how 17-yr-olds think. HS can truly be hell. It has nothing to do with his priorities, it has to do with teenage survival.) A way to shut people up and keep them guessing will minimize the (for a HS student very real) anguish of the situation for you.

I was going to say that whatever you do, you just have to carry it off. No one but you knows it wasn't done on purpose. Shave it all off, if the problem spot is now bald, or shave it down so it's all the same length, and smirk your way through the next few weeks. Make'em think you did it on purpose. It WILL grow out fast.

And a word of comfort for the future - this kind of thing gets less and less important the older you get!

Thank you for being so nice, and not thinking I'm some sort of idiot. I understand about priorties etc, but at the same time, I also understand there are a lot of people out there, especially HS, who look for any reason to come down on others. And whilst facing very 'real' problems elsewhere (that wasn't meant as sympathy) - I would rather not face superficial ones in school.

Thanks a lot, AnnK :)

empathy I'll be honest, one time I got really upset when I got a bad haircut. I was in sixth (or fifth) grade. But, nobody even noticed when I went to school a couple of days later (Saturday-->Monday). It was a letdown. It wasn't bald, but it really was a bad haircut.

observation Anyway, point of all that rambling - I went to a HS of somewhere around 4k students. We were quite a bit bigger that you guys, but even with 1500, I don't think that we would have been able to keep tabs on people to know about how they looked within 2 weeks. I mean, one of my best friends cut her hair (6 inches), and I didn't know about it for almost two months.

commentary I don't know how kids are these days, but when I graduated less than 10 years ago, we were not the nicest people, but when things went wrong, we did go out of our way to rally around friends when things were going wrong for them (even if we thought they were being dumb). I'd expect no different from your people.

summary That being said, something tells me that the immediacy of the internet has made you look silly. Reading your posts, I can almost see you going through the 5 stages of acceptance. I wonder if you hadn't had a place to post your thoughts, if you wouldn't have made the same decision to deal with it without give or take 3 pages of being made fun of. I guess we should have ignored you for a little while before taking you to task (I didn't post, but I did laugh about it/at you with the wife). Given you time to sort it out. Glad you are making the right decision...
