This is front page news because ….

 *sigh* first post too...

This is huge news because it shows that more and more companies are moving to the Mac platform. For those that enjoy gaming, they can now hope to do it on Mac versus PC.

God what a noob you are. It's updates to the engine, not some miracle graphics overhaul.

GG on owning yourself.

Of course its a graphical update, what do you think HDR added means. They updated the whole lighting engine, and I'm pretty sure the textures were improved as well, since there is a very high option now.

I believe the water effects are also improved.

It seems the models have been updated too. So I don't know how you don't call it a graphical update, given the textures, lighting, models, and other things like water were all improved.

It seems they also added dynamic shadows from the lighting from the flashlight in the game, which appeared in Ep 2, which will make it look better as well.

removed link, wrong info.

anyone got TF2 on their steam account - can you see it in your gamelog?

I bought it with Orange Box yesterday, but it doesn't show in my view

Well started HL episode 2 on a 2.4 imac, noticed a lot of sound clipping im wondering if it may have something to do with the download which took hours and hours to accomplish. that seems to be my biggest issue at the moment. Its a new port so im guessing valve will clean it up as time goes on.

I would expect a price break for the suite, since the full orange box is not available yet. Unless they are just going to hold off and do a full orange box a couple of weeks later. But $7 is just a ridiculous expectation. I would expect, and would be glad to pay, $19 for the HL2 suite.

Wow, I'm gonna say something many others are thinking:

Man, you're cheap! :)

Seriously, $7 puts you out for such a phenomenal game title?? I challenge you to find a Mac title that is as compelling from since 2006 to now.

If you have other games to play, why not wait?

The Orange Box has been $10 before, and I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again once TF2 is released.

On Mac it isn't showing in the game list for anyone, but you do own it, and if you log into Windows, you can see it.

Stop saying this game is old - it runs on the source engine which is updated all the time. So yes, the game is old, the engine isn't.

Look what you wrote. You just said to stop calling the GAME "old" and then you say "the game is old...." Uh. I guess you must be talking to yourself in the first part since you just AGREED the *GAME* is OLD. Who said ANYTHING about the engine on here? Anywhere? Most PC people played and beat this game ages ago. I bought like 3 years ago and finally got around to playing it last year. I think it took me like 3 days on and off to beat it. Greatest game ever? Not hardly. Now Dragon Age Origins OTOH...awesome the first time through (I actually played it through again with another character and that's a first for an RPG for me).

Really, though, the frame rates I'm getting on Half Life 2 (given its age) on my 1.5 year old MBP doesn't give me a lot of hope for newer games at decent resolutions. Looks like it'll be run low or run on my PC (itself which is getting out of date). It might be soon time to build that Hackintosh I've been wanting to build for some time (i.e. one that will run circles around a $3250 Mac Pro at almost 1/3 the price; EASILY done, BTW. Screw Apple and their ridiculous lack of gaming ABLE hardware at anything near a reasonable price. A 320M isn't a gaming card, BTW, so I'm not surprised it sucks too. Apple badly needs a gaming machine (I don't care about the desktop form factor so long as it has a top notch GPU and a reasonable CPU for a price under $1500. I don't NEED a monitor either. I have several already. How about a larger Mini (more like those gaming "cubes" in the PC world) with a replaceable GPU and a 1TB+ hard drive. Drop the Mini. It doesn't need to be THAT small.

God this game runs like crap, at least in some areas, I'm guessing its because of the drivers, cuz my I've got a HD5770 1GB.. I'm getting texture flickering =/

I just realized its when you have AA enabled =/ Its not playable if you have it enabled, without it I get over 180..
