It was a _good_ one! Decent trick-or-treat volumes (we handed out full bars, the kids were flipping out), new decorations were fun, had some friends over, lots of traffic through the house from the block for "to go" beverages (people know how we roll ;)). Recovery has been ... slow :D

OMG, and my 9 year this afternoon first grouped her candy and now has them in labeled ziplock bags.

"Why are these with these?" ... "That's all terrible candy"

"This says Twix but there's a KitKat in there" ... "They're candy cousins, they both have a cookie middle with chocolate on the outside, I didn't want to waste a bag".

Of course, silly me. :D

Well the door will remain unanswered as it does most of the time someone calls by.
I'm not a fan. Never have been. I think it's one of those holidays we have imported from the US. Maybe not its origins, but the process of decorating ones house in fake ghosts and witches isn't for me.

I'm sure you appreciate Halloween more than the black Friday holiday (shopping day after Thanksgiving) you also imported from the USA :).

When I was a kid trick or treating, we always hated stopping at a house and ending up with an apple or some other fruit :).

The candy bars back then were full size with none of this fun size they have now.

After we got back last night, after all it was humid and chilly, we both enjoyed a nice healthy serving of scotch after we put the kids to sleep.

Smart girl. I'm amazing at how much I still like Kit Kats. They're my go to for cheap candy. So simple yet so perfect for a mug of coffee or tea. Stick it in the freezer and you have an awesome hard to chew treat but it makes it better. Dark chocolate Kit Kat that comes around December is better.

The best candy, IMO, is the 100 Grand bars.

Black Friday doesn't really affect me one way or the other. Not much of a shopper!

No, I don't "do" Black Friday either; actually, by definition, I regret to say, if a tradition is imported from Across The Pond, I will view it askance until persuaded otherwise of its merits.

Now, as I have already written, Hallowe'en - an ancient pagan celebration with Christian overtones - is drastically different.
