Interesting. I did a stopwatch test.

With 7300GT, rip takes 1 hour 33 minutes.

With ATI 4870, rip takes 47 minutes.

Nothing changed except the video card, same DVD, same system. I can't explain what is going on. I just know that with the new graphics card a rip is a one-beverage proposition. :cool:
I would love to see the activity logs for both encodes, I can guarantee you it was a different source and or options.

The gpu gives *absolutely* no speed boost to handbrake. HandBrake is all cpu.
 
Funny to me how DynaFlash is almost polite at MR but everyone on the HB forums is a jerk most of the time.
 
Dynaflash, Will that change in the future? Will future versions of HandBrake use OpenCL to take advantage of GPU processing power?

Nevermind. :) I read the answer on the HandBrake FAQ. Plus, I understand now that this is really an issue for the x264 library, not HandBrake itself.
