Unfortunately, it does not. WatchOS 7 skipped a couple features for the Series 3 due to hardware limitations. Much like WatchOS 6 where the Series 3 did not get the ambient noise monitor.

lol, don’t feel bad, we here in Aussie, pretty much get Apple devices in hand 1st on launch, however we are STILL WAITING for the irregular heartbeat and ecg to be avail, after all we pay the same for the device, but minus more than a couple key selling points active, I know it’s up to the Aus Gov/Health dep to work with Apple on this, but just sayin..
Oh Yeh did i mention that the home handwash reminders are greyed out as well, all this on my Nike+ 44mm cell series 5 Watch,
Maybe its the price we pay to be in line for 1st to receive on release days🍎 screen shots attached for a giggle! 😷⌚️💯

FWIW mine has worked since day 1 - I enabled it and it just works. However, if i come home and wash my hands immediately (well within 1-2 mins) it doesn't remind me.

Hope this helps AW5 WatchOS7 B3.
Interesting to know what everyone is running in this thread in terms of WatchOS7 ~> PUBLIC OR DEV BETA?

I am running latest public beta on my iphone and watch. The handwashing feature as well as the reminder when getting home work as expected. I agree that by default I usually wash my hands for at least 20 seconds however there have been instances where the watch recorded I did not.

Also, all the data gets captured in health so you can see on average how many seconds you are washing for, how many times per day/month/etc.

Personally I initially thought this feature would be a gimmick but I have come to appreciate it.

I just installed the PB beta on my series 5 LTE. I turned on handwashing under settings. I also turned on the handwashing reminder but it toggles off on its own. I am not getting any error message when it toggles off.

Anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Running latest public beta on watch (s4) and iPhone.

I’ve noticed that sometime it never detects me washing my hands. In my bathrooms yes, kitchen never.
At first I thought it was because my HomePod was playing music and it couldn’t hear the water etc, then later done it again without music and still didn’t detect.

The only difference I can tell between when it works and when it doesn’t in the sound/flow of water from the tap.

Mine is greyed out also, Mine was ON by default and hand wash counts down and detects very well, just the at home reminder won’t work due to the home address issue on my card, it’s greyed out as i mentioned and do have address on my me card, if I am using my watch and go into handwash tab for split second as it flicks from handwash tab in watch settings to being in the handwash sttings, I can time it correctly where i can turn home reminders on before it greys out, but it remains grey even with toggle on for home reminders but soon as i exit it turns toggle back to off and greyed out again,

I’m curios to see if the posters on here saying there’s work, are on “PUBLIC/DEV” watchOS7?¿ I’m on the Dev beta, using series 5 watch in Aussie
I’ve also tried wifi and also cellular on my watch and this makes no difference either

I had submitted feedback on 8.14 in regards to the home reminder toggle turning itself off after several seconds every time you tried to turn it on. I just got email from Apple stating that they think they fixed the problem with the latest build. With the latest build, the home reminder toggle is grayed out for me and I have no way to turn it on. I tried setting up the watch as new several times over the weekend to no avail. As requested by Apple, they asked me to respond to whether or not the problem was fixed. And if it wasn’t, to submit new feedback, which I just completed.

***Please anyone having trouble with the hand washing home reminder, submit feedback to Apple so they can get this fixed.

Has anyone noticed that this only works about 50 percent of the time when washing hands or it starts about 5 to 10 seconds after washing hands. What is the key to get it to activate every time and start right away?

Guess will have to a tutorial for washing hands with Apple Watch.. LOL

Mine has worked fine since day 1. Although I thought it was broken because it wasn’t working. But then i realised i hasn’t switched it on
The hand washing reminder option is grayed out for me. I have significant locations turned on as well. I also can’t change handwashing access as it is grayed out as well. Any ideas how to fix this?

My (getting home reminder) option no longer works on iOS 15 and watchOS 8 full releases. I’ve re-paired and set up as new and whilst it originally showed that reminders was on I never received them upon getting home. Turned them off and on again and now get the same error as before. The option to set to Always is greyed out and can’t be changed. Apparently these settings are taken from the phone but I cant see handwashing in privacy/location services at all (on the phone) - anyone else? Assuming this is because both iOS 15 and watchos8 are utter crap?

Mine is not working anymore. I just realize my mic is busted on my S4
Another reason to upgrade to a S7

Have the exact same problem on my S7
Can’t choose Always… It’s also greyed out.
No settings can be found in the phone either

That’s exactly it. I mean let’s give Apple a break though, they’ve only had four versions of iOS 15 to get this sorted. We should probably give them another 10 years before they pull their fingers out of their collective ass!

Can’t you just change the regional settings to a country with ecg feature and use a vpn on your iPhone to make it work? This is how I enable features that aren’t available in my country.

That’s not very practical. Other apps get confused if you do that.

I don't really understand the whole hand-washing feature. Do people not know how to wash their hands corretly?
Statistically, no, they don’t. At least pre-pandemic, most people did not wash their hands long enough to kill Covid (which, Covid didn’t exist, so…). And lots of people don’t wash their hands even at the most obvious times, such as after going to the bathroom (apparently men are worse offenders than women on this one). So yes, not only do some people not wash their hands correctly, MOST people don’t. Heck, probably anyone who isn’t a surgeon isn’t being as thorough with their hand washing as they could be.

From my experience, it needs two things to recognize that you’re washing - running water and vigorous rubbing. If you start by getting soap and then turn the water on, and you roll your hands to wash, it can take longer or not recognize it at all. So turn on the water and wet your hands before you get soap. Then get soap and rub your hands together vigorously near the water stream where the watch mic can hear the water sound loudly. Then wash however you normally do.

Reminders to wash hands when getting home still not working under latest 15.4 and watchos 8.5 dev betas. Reported twice now and still screwed. They really are a joke!

I just enabled location services on the watch via iphone. But the watch settings won’t allow always have location services for handwashing.

Personally I have disabled it as it probably bases on what microphone recognizes not hand movement. I have tap with motion detection when it turns on/ off water as I get hands under it or wave on the side (huge water savings). The soap foam machine is also motion controlled.

In this cases 2/10 times this functionality is turns on, and what is more I found this to be battery killer for watch (10-25% more battery in the end of day).
