Hi all, I've searched previously threads, but not seeing a resolution. I've spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support, and they needed to transfer me to a senior tech, but there was another 45 minute wait.

Just got the HomePod Mini's and paired with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Handoff works fine for me on each HomePod Mini. However, handoff doesn't work for my wife (who also has a 11 Pro Max). Software is updated to 14.2 on all HomePod Mini's and both of our iPhones. Bluetooth is on, Handoff is on under AirPlay & Handoff, we are on the same WiFi network.

Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I believe in order for handoff to work, the the same iCloud account needs to be used between the HomePod and the phone. If the HomePod is registered under your Apple ID, that may be why she is having trouble.

If I am wrong, I am sure someone will correct me. I just got a HomePod mini as well.

Hi Robert - thanks for this! Would be curious to hear from others if this is the case. I was reading threads where multiple family members can use handoff.

just a guess here, but have you shared your home with her?

if you have homekit devices, this should already be done.

FYI, handoff is not working with my mini and my iPhone 12 Pro. After a vary short talk with Apple support (15 minutes or so) they are sending a new unit.

are you talking about just bumping the phone to it and it start to play the music? I have tried on mine and it works, my daughter also tried on her iphone 12 and it worked with her youtube music

Yes, just bumping. Airplay, Siri, everything else works. Neither my phone or ipad can connect to the mini via bluetooth.

I think it’s the W1/U1 chip that actually does it. And you did a HomePod restore?

I did a restore on my own and then with support. They mentioned the U1 chip, I am not sure if or how that works in conjunction with Bluetooth, but after the second restore and no Bluetooth connection on iPhone or iPad they said they are shipping a new one. Was surprised that they offered to do that so quickly- may be a known issue.

Thanks all. I really don't think it's the unit itself because I bought 3 HomePod Mini's and my phone can handoff on all 3. However, nothing happens on my wife's phone. She can airplay, use Siri, etc., but cannot get the handoff to work. Any other ideas?

Sweet, hopefully that one works

Sounds like talk to support and they will send you another if they can’t figure it out.

Old iPhone without UWB Chip? It's only working on new iPhones with the chip.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and was able to get it resolved?

you've tried rebooting her phone, as well as your router and other network gear?

Yea I think there are some bugs with the Mini, for instance mine wasn't playing any music even though Siri said it was (and it was listed as playing in the Home app). Reboots seem to fix them. Hope apple releases bug fixes....

Thanks! Searching the threads, it seems handoff has been an issue on the regular HomePod as well. Not sure if anyone got it to work.

I remember being a little disappointed that was the case, and yet I was able to handoff music today using my iPhone XR. I‘m not sure how or why it’s working but I won’t complain.

I've had some issues with homepod connecting and handoff before. Not sure always how to fix and always try the usually (e.g. reboot phone, reinstall HomePod, reboot router/modem), but did notice some problems have been associated with with have both a 2.4 and 5 ghz network in the house. If the home pod is on a different network than the phone, it doesn't work or is buggy. I've still had random issues on the same network, but not as many. Good luck!

I have not discovered a solution yet for a HomePod handoff problem I am experiencing on my iPhone 8+. It just does not work, at all. Everything else seems to work. The handoff on my wife's iPhone 6s works just fine. Everything is using 14.3. I have tried nearly everything including erasing all content and restoring the phone from a backup. My next step will be to re-erase everything and set up the phone from scratch. I did three times more work because I wanted to avoid that.
